Just seen the BBC forecast for next week and it looks to be going downhill from Monday.

Next weekend may see the tail end of this hit the UK

Just had some more riders jump ship ... if anyone fancies throwing their hat in the ring, let me know.

As for the weather, stop looking ... it's a week off, that's like a lifetime in the Welsh weather system, anything could happen between now and then - heatwave, mass extinction or full on ice age.

You don't think 7,000m ascent might have had anything to do with it then?

No, more likely the speculation centering round the forecast and the need to be towing an arc behind your bike

It's THE Emily Chappell, that I take great pleasure in reminding how she once accussed bikepackers of being mad.

With forecasts showing ~3mm, I'd pay good money to see an ark floating in that. Might score an arc behind the bike if there's standing water though :)

Yes but are they Welsh mm, just like Welsh miles ... they differ from English ones.

I would just like to say to anyone who's starting to worry - DON'T. One of the things that will influence whether or not you make it round, is the state of your head at the start. If you're already having doubts and worries, then you're talking yourself out of a finish. Think you're going to do it, come Hell, high water or Noah and his arc and chances are you will.

This^^ 1000000% for me..

Last year was the first time i'd done anything like this before, it was tough yes, but a great experience.
I'm not even sure if i'll finish this year & i'll admit to being a little anxious about it, but i know once i'm away that'll all be forgetton. I'll just do what i can do on the weekend, weather, fitness, etc aside, & enjoy the experience..

Think i did 7100meters ascent last year, know i added a bit on the go the cafe at Penmachno but that deffo ain't another +1500m!

I've added some details besides the riders names on the list ... apologies if something isn't correct.

Very interesting. Cheers.

I was pleased at how I'd done, especially as a virgin, but I had no idea quite how well I'd done. I definitely could have gone considerably faster too... though nowhere near those top two nutters!

Ah yes, end of day and I just made the date reference the first cell I did quickly, so when sorting the data it would have broken a bit. That was a bit if a rush before taking off for the day...

I should be a DNF on there Stu - I had to come back across the A road after my GPS gave up the ghost.
