GUL 12L dry bag arrived today. It's the same size & shape as the Lomo 12L (for those familiar with that one) but instead of the black bits, this one is purely constructed of the white/clear bits, so it's pretty much transparent...and 40 grams lighter if that sort of thing floats your boat. Not sure whether it'll be as tough..time will tell.

Our receptionist has kindly placed a parcel from deepest Wales on top of the mountain of medical records sat on my desk ..... the temptation to grab the parcel (a Shangri la 3 from Stu) and run to the hills is rather overwhelming .....

very excited :-D

Nice. I have to go back round and pick up the one he's repaired for me (ex demo Woodman X). I honestly think it was operator error with the whole adjustable footbox thing and the amsteel line that was tying it up but christ knows!

Whatever, in the very brief hang I had it seemed comfy enough and for a netted / full hamock it was very light, especially compared to the Hennesey.

He's a bugger though, last time I "persuaded" myself to get the Superfly you suggested. Definitely not going to order a Summer 3/4 UQ (with extra 50 gm of fill to up the performance). Oh no :?

I've been wondering about all these overfill options with all the UQ and TQ maker's.
The overfill isn't making you warm, it's just creating a dead air space for you to heat up but the outer is still the same.
Is it just extra weight?
Surely the extra down needs extra space to loft not just more crammed into the same space. :?:

Interesting point. I guess it depends to some extent on the size they're making the "container" in the first place. The TQ I've got is certainly "patchy" in terms of there being an even and consistent amount of down throughout each channel. Maybe that's because it's new and not had a lot of use to help it distribute more evenly. Maybe it's unavoidable with only a certain weight of down in it.

Possibly 50gm extra just helps make the "thinner" spots of down in each channel more consisitent. I guess really you'd have to understand much better the parameters and performance of down etc. Geek-out!

I'm speculating widely and totally unsure about it now, thanks a lot :?

I should have just stayed ignorant and bought it (or not, as I said I wouldn't)

How did that massively expensive affair from the States work out for you?

The "massively expensive affair from the States" is the dogs doo dahs.
Fits my Blackbird a treat. Not tried it on the HH but I've got the Unsponsored UQ for that anyway.
It's very well made like all the reports on Hammock Forums suggest.
I was thinking about a TQ to match from the same place but I've got a PD400 (opened out using it with a footbox) which weighs a similar amount so I can just use that for temps around 0*c. I have a summer TQ by Unsponsored too.

Unsponsored(Phil) Is the guy that runs Bike and Bivi, he makes decent quality DIY stuff and flogs it for extra pocket money.
He normally puts it on the bushcraft forum.

Just arrived, new On One Mary bars in anodised red (looked much redder on their site) for £15.49 inc P&P. Now going for a ride to see if i like them better than the Fleegle pro's. They look wierd.

Still look wierd but feel great, think I got the position of them near enough right straight away, should have bought these first time instead of the fleegle's, oh well. Not sure about the colour though, definatley magenta, not red, but it's the shape that counts, not the colour. :)

After others discussing them I finally stumped up for an Alpkit mug and cup combo. Ti pegs (yes, I'm even shaking my own head at the sheer ridiculous-ness of buying those ). Variety of stuff sacs / net bags because you can't have too many bags (said Mr West to his wife as he went out to the patio).

Edge 200 as I'm not really a GPS person (I don't think) but the simplicity of its function compared to "old" cycle computers and the Garmin connect stuff for info' before / after convinced me to take a punt. I just can't shake a love of maps though.

Something from Revelate in the post. Fingers crossed it dodges Customs 8-)

The postman's not been but I had a bit of a splurge yesterday and have ordered a Lhoon (long handled spoon!) from Alpkit.
Went to Snow and rock too and picked up some chlorine dioxide tabs and some dehydrated food which will probably taste disgusting! Plan to take some cous cous and other bits on the WRT too.
Also, cobbled together a first aid kit in a little dry bag.

Fits like a glove, finish is superb and, if the last one he made for me is anything to go by, should be bulletproof.. roll on the WRT!
