It does need a stand ... and the cone acts as a stand and windshield in one. Obviously there's no stand / windshield shown in the pic so you can see the stove.

The cone pretty much encases the stove and pot completely so blocks out a lot of wind. The cone shape also directs the heat towards the pot before it goes out of the 'exhaust' vents at the top ... it's also very stable.

Not Ti only aluminium ... trust me, I've looked high and low for Ti sheet of the right size and grade.

After rather a lot of time and way too many prototypes the final configuration is sorted. There's been a few changes take place with the main one being the addition of a second 'wall' to act as a flame damper and allow the stove to operate in a wider range of conditions, ie not optimal conditions. I've also used stupidly expensive ceramic sponge for the wick as it won't burn at all ... not even singe

The second wall has pushed the weight up to 20g and slowed the boil times a little but combined with the new wick has upped efficiency.

I think you've done a cracking job there and really like the look of it. Can I ask which pot/diameter it is optimised for and furthermore will it be in the online shop soon :0)!?

So far I've tried everything from a 450ml mug to a big old kettle and it works okay with all of them, however something the size of a Mytimug or MSR Titan kettle would be ideal ... I do have a tapered windshield for it that isn't pot specific which makes life easier.

I'm hoping to get the first batch sorted out next week.

Hopefully it'll be available with or without a windshield / pot stand ... it's very much designed to work with the stove rather than just there to block the wind.

I've had a very busy month so have only just got round to some final testing and so far so good. As I mentioned before, adding the second wall has slowed the burn down but has increased fuel efficiency, so 15ml of fuel will boil 0.5L of water with the stove fully open. Weight's 21g inc' simmer band.

Works fine with anything from a 450ml mug upwards and the windshield / stand will fit inside a Mytimug or anything else taller than 100mm. I've also made another windshield designed for a 750ml Vargo Sierra 'cup' ... it works like a cone but in reverse.

The 'simmer' function works really well with 10ml of fuel burning for 25 minutes ... full blown 'cooking' could be the future
