Anyone else having problems with the GPX route it seems to stray a long way of the mapped route ?

I think the GPX on RWGPS is a plotted track, rather than ridden, so it goes in a series of straight lines, point to point. Is that what you're seeing? What have you loaded it into/onto, as third party software can re-route too.

Still undecided.

I'd imagine a MTB would still be a better choice than a gravel bike for the gravel route though? I've not done lots of riding in the Lakes but from what I've seen, it's usually pretty rough

Only.glanced at the route but looks fairly gravel friendly to me ( and it's not an activity I particularly.appreciate and my only gravel lakes one was South lakes )
Tbh most of the MTB route could be done on one. South lakes is ( generally) not the gnarliest in the lakes
Doing the MTB a week later as crowds and riding is not for me.

I may go off on a slight tangent and do a Lakeland 300 ITT attempt from Staveley instead.....
I'll see how i feel on sat morning :)

MTB for me.
Rich has posted on FB that the RWGPS track has been updated to the ridden (correct) version.

Should be sorted.

We had no issues with the warm bilge pump water 🤣

Only 2 hours wait for food but we got gifted a burger a chips from another JennRider whilst we waited, winner!

Great riding with you Andy. And thanks Rich for putting together another great route 👍

Nice to put some more faces to forum names and bump into folks out on the trail. While it wasn't all unicorns and rainbows, overall I had a fantastic time; that ice cream in Walna Scar car park was the highlight. Having to have a stern word with myself on the first and last bridleways as I was having a strop, not so highlighty. While I decided to use the medium of YouTube shorts to record this ride, I'll prolly stick a few words in the BaM thread at some point too...

That was a very enjoyable JennRide! The weather was absolutely cracking and led to a very social ride involving some riding, lots of stopping and a fair bit of time in the pub. Our group size went up and down over the couple of days as people joined and split off depending on what they were planning.

The drive up was horrendous but coming back was much more straightforward. This is definitely one of my favourite events. Friday and Sunday night in the camp site is a bonus
