I use Putoline. One of the, fairly minor, downsides is that it doesn't prevent surface rust (it shouldn't because the lube isn't meant to be on the outside). I keep a cloth soaked in WD40 in a little plastic tub and wipe the chain down with it after a ride (and after wiping the mud off and drying if necessary, but the mud doesn't stick to the waxed chain very well so it's usually just the moisture). I guess ACF50 could be used instead, not sure it'd be much better though.

I only ever used acf on the insides of my frame when I had the longitude and cdf , probably not needed but a little piece of mind , then repeated every September

Was it Wipperman that used to make stainless chains?

Just got to the end of my last bottle when it came back in stock at Wiggle.Availability is patchy though
I will save the 3 in 1 for another day.

I used to have an 1/8th stainless chain on a singlespeed, it was so heavy it had it's own gravitational pull It is so worn (stretched) that it's of no use but I haven't thrown it out as it's not rusty
KMC make chains with their EPT treatment which are claimed to be rust proof but I've not tried them to comment.
