Talking about porn crosswords reminded me of The Outcast, does anyone still have copies lying around?
Yes, most of 'em :-bd

Arrived today!
Looks like a good little read too.

Agreed that the takeaways and bivvy idea is great. There’s a good chippy in Ashburton... maybe next year?

Cheers Rob

Same here. I quite liked the semi-philosophical style and thoughts about 'diversity in cycling'. Goodness knows what he was doing going at 35mph round that bend near Bradwell though  .

I thought he explained at great length exactly what he was doing at 35mph round that bend near Bradwell!

Magazines are banned in Tier 3.
There are special rules regarding Christmas editions of Radio Times which can be purchased from 23rd Dec onwards.

 Yes I suppose I should have more accurately said 'why' rather than 'what'.

All my fault you know... Well, off course you know that. Your one of the elders

Just kidding Luke. I'm ever so careful and always have my badge ready for 'the officers' if ever I'm stopped...

This reminds me about the time when I was trying to drive to current workplace, as agency cos they was desperate. Well before Covid and many local folk (in Tier 3) didn't even know who Bill Gates was. Motorway was all closed off and after about 3 detours, I finally managed to get somewhere that I was gonna be allowed through, and out of West Yorkshire (to the posh place/side).

Anyway, waited patiently in the queue and was confident I was gonna be let through, whilst everyone else was being turned away by the 'officer'. I mean, why wouldn't I as I had all the proof that I and my big black bushy beard were innocent.

'I'm not a terrorist Mr Officer, I'm an ICU nurse, honest'... I thought to myself, what best words to blurt out when I finally walked on over past the traffic queue of, 'the civilians'. After all we were both working for the public good right! Didn't use my aforementioned 'chat up line' (obviously), but instead showed my badge and the text-confirmation that they needed me urgent at said ICU. With my 'puppy dog face'

Anyway, he was totally indifferent and talked through me. Just like he'd have done 'the others'. That was the days before anyone started appreciating nurses btw (2019)so things might recently have changed. Dunno. Might still not use the , 'I'm not a terrorist' line though.

(Thinks... and thinks... and thinks some more) then this one time (oh, I had to ring the gaffer at said ICU and tell her Mr Officer didn't feel I was worthy of passing through the small posh village to go save lives and relieve the stressed nurses holding in their wee!), right at the start of Covid and first lockdown... First week actually and I think it was Derby. I met an army nurse who was helping out/redeployed (whatever it is) at this place. Told me about how she'd been recently stopped by 'the officers' who she told she was a nurse and 'don't come close, I've been on a covid ward'. They all had a right laff and she got on her way. Still wonder what response I'd get when I'm eventually stopped.

The 'Mr Officer' (sorry to go back to this nice gentleman) I'd met, seemed to be a very indifferent chap. Remember him well  ... the .... lovely man

Anyway.. Sorry Luke. Got a bit carried away with 'Mr Officer' and my big black bushy beard... I have One Man and His Bike by Mike Carter. Still on page 25 and he's already learnt alit about the TLS rule. He's only about 60 miles from London yet though (on his round the British coast journey)...

Finished it with breakfast.

A 'deeper' read than the CyclingUK mag sat next to it which these days somehow too closely resembles those type of shallow skim-read product-placement supermarket-advertorial magazines. Sad to say it because the outfit does a lot of great things obviously and I shall continue membership. Sign of the times I spose.

Just a leeeetle downcast at the bivvy spot pointers though - and anyway, one would get rather a ticking-off if rumbled at one of them, another is a sensitive area, and another is miles from a RoW. Plenty of less 'sensitive' places to kip. Ah well. Niche publication so little harm done.

Still, I can forgive anyone who reviews Russian Space Food.

Worth reading his motorcycle book, Uneasy Rider: Travels Through a Mid-Life Crisis, It gives a bit more insight into him as a person.

I'd definitely use the I'm not a terrorist line though, perfect icebreaker! :-)

Thanks Rob... I've considered it many times but always decide against it. People have had the anti-terror squad pushing and shoving into thwm for a lot less. Dont fancy getting manhandled if I can help it just yet

Yes, he sounds like a top bloke and well rounded/read...

Wasn't a long wait, postman just turned up with about 2 week's average post ie all the things that I had started wondering about and was putting down to '2020 delays'

Lovely magazine, very nicely put together. I signed up to Cranked for the year also. Something about an entertaining interview in the next edition?
