Thanks to all for an excellent weekend especially Sam for allowing us use of his wood. Enjoyed my local Southern coffee on Sunday morning, don't get that sort of stuff oop North.

The bonus pub for the laggards on Saturday night was pleasant, The Plough at Cadsden which is near Chequers. Turns out it was the one David Cameron took the Chinese leader to some time ago and the pub where he left behind one of his children a couple of years ago. He won't be doing that again will he!

Would be good to do another in the area in drier weather next spring or summer.

Can any one of the 'laggards' tell me how many miles we covered on saturday please?

As well as saying thanks to those who organised this (which I rudely forgot to do in my last post) I'd also like to thank Javi for the festive rendition of jingle bells using his disc brakes!

And the bear bones disc brake choir for the vaguely exciting cacophony of noise as we left the pub... the pub's occupants and neighbours must have been most bemused...

Can I add my thanks to everyone for making this such an enjoyable weekend, especially Ben and Reg for getting us to the pub and then back to the station. Great company and some good riding despite the mud and rain.
Very interesting to go home on a very busy train packed with Christmas shoppers with me and my bike covered in mud and smiling contentedly to myself, funny how I seemed to find a bit of a space around me  .

Thanks all for a great weekend, despite the rain and mud (although it was surprisingly good fun having completely the wrong tyres for the mud  ). Thanks to Ben and Reg for organisey-ness, Tim & Sam for arranging overnight Bivvy Spot and the fire, and everyone else for the banter. :-bd Highlights include antler silouttes, puddle splashing, gingerbread cappuccino, setting fire to too much meths, melting inner-soles and the phrase "when you get to my age". I'll post a few photos in due course.

Your cast-iron bivi stove blew us all away too - a permanent fixture in your kit from now on one hopes

JUST finished cleaning my bike...

For you chaps who went a bit off-piste to the Plough at Cadsden, you'll be pleased to know that a chain of pubs will be opening across China modelled on that same pub! One hopes they'll be including some dishevelled and filthy bikepackers to enhance the realism
