Re: The post man's been ...
Friday night spent putting most of it together, and after a trip to the bike shop for a new rear tyre and a 73mm shell BB, I finally got it at together yesterday.

Put in 60km on it last night and very impressed with the ride. The geometry is only slightly different to the Pegasus, but the higher front end make for a very comfortable position. Steering is very precise without being twitchy and handling sure-footed. Very much looking forward to the HTR on it

How wide are those bars? They look tiny.

Correct. Quite a nice range actually - rode some nice techy climbs last night I've not been able to touch on the SS for the past few yearss8tannorm wrote:Lovely ... 32 x 11/36?
Just normal Jones H-bars - 680mm ones.danielgroves wrote:How wide are those bars? They look tiny.

A beauty.
Looks like things have turned to a better for you Ian.

Forks look the wrong way round to me. Then again the first time I saw a lefty fork I was amazed. Stunning frame though, I'd have it!
Re: The post man's been ...
Cheers. Manitou forks have the brace at the rear. Looks neater that way I think, and a lot less prime to collecting mud.

Today's consignment (this is getting expensive...):
A GoPro chest strap
A GoPro Hero 3+ to go with the chest strap
A pair of bottle cages to replace the one that mysteriously broke on the way up to the Cairngorms Loop
A small Joby tripod with magnetic feet for off-bike footage.

Re: The post man's been ...
A useless mini pump that should have been a new shock pump if on-one had got the order right
Re: The post man's been ...
I find i get a bit sweaty when i wear mine. The harness blocks out a considerable amount of cooling.Ian wrote:A GoPro chest strap
Re: The post man's been ...
We'll see how it goes. The logistics of what to film and when will be an interesting exercise. I have in mind some specific sections I want to capture, so I may find myself riding without it on for long periods. The main dilemma is, assuming I get some good footage, do I release it next month or wait until November...Chew wrote:I find i get a bit sweaty when i wear mine. Postie brought me a 32Gb card for the GoPro, a bottle of smidge and some misc bike bits to tweak the final set up in the bike. Spare batteries for the GoPro tomorrow and that's everything...

Thanks to my own stupidity, the wrong headset bearing arrived today for my On-One Smoothie Mixer. Put it all back together and the front end of the bike locked solid. Hopefully I've now ordered the right one. I am an arse.

Re: The post man's been ...
^^^^ Oh man some truly dopey things have come through my front door over the years. Forks with steerer tubes way too short cos I just didn't check the length. Road tyres just too wide for my rims. Clothes that wouldnt fit my kids let alone me. But my fave by far are the six (yes, six) pairs of spangly gold Oury grips I bought because they were 3 for a tenner and I somehow managed to order them twice.
I'm just going outside ...

Posite brought me a nice card. It allows me to collect my goodies between 9:00 - 17:30
Useless. Might as well send it back, I wont be collecting it

An RSP "Plummet" dropper seat post.
Not very bikepacky and I suspect Stu is no fan However, for c.£69 and at 27.2mm dia (rare as RHS size) it seemed like quite a deal.

Where did you get the Plummet? I've not seen them in stock anywhere for a while.

Tredz.
Ordered it when it was discussed about a month ago on STW. Got an email at the time saying out of stock but would be back in end May. Lo and behold it arrived yesterday at work. Nice surprise as I'd completely forgotten about it.
Think I've got my pricing right

How big is the charge thing? It looks like a very neat solution to a generally very expensive problemjohnnystorm wrote:Also from Tredz my Biologic ReeCharge dynamo regulator and a couple of Bottles of chain lube to qualify for the fiver off deal.
Re: The post man's been ...
New fork for my steel crosser project - 45mm tyre clearance should be enough..
Re: The post man's been ...
Cheap and not very well protected (electrically). Can burn out on fast descents or when the attached device is fully charged.Ben98 wrote:How big is the charge thing? It looks like a very neat solution to a generally very expensive problem
Lots of discussion of such devices here:
