I'd noticed that. There's no shots of that area on geograph.org.uk and google maps doesn't show anything in satellite mode. There's a wide track on the southern side but nothing on the northern bank.

Rich... Is the river you speak of starting with n N and ending in an O... Google Maps seemed to show some grainy pics of a wide(ish) river/stream but can't see a bridge

There did used to be a bridge but I'll admit to not passing that way for a while. I'll go and look tomorrow.

Like a scene out of Kelly's Heroes. Don't give me those negative vibes. There's a bridge, a beautiful bridge....

There's about 6 in one of the towns.

Plus if you get your timing right you could visit it twice (admittedly going slightly off route the second time).

Phew, was having thoughts of trying to learn how to fling my bike for a moment, then swim

Just remember when you ride through the towns and villages on the loop not to go over 20mph, and if you overtake any cars please give them 1.5m

No close passing please

You are clearly faster than me or can get into a lock-in
Just remember when you ride through the towns and villages on the loop not to go over 20mph

Doesn't apply to cycles

I do like quoting that at cyclist haters!
That said, if I go into total crazy legs mode, 32/21 allows me to do 17mph so I'm safe.
And if it's 3am, dark and raining, then to quote a famous band - " stuff em and their law" etc.

New gpx file emailed this morning which avoids the tangled and twisted remains of the 'bridge' east of Llanidloes.

To be honest, the new 20 zones don't seem to apply to cars either. What does seem to have happened is that people are now driving at 30 in a 20 rather than 40 in a 30 ... which of course might have been the desired effect.

So is everyone else but more importantly, what's going on here. Can't be right can it?
