There is free returns so worth just buying a pair and sending them back if too small? I only buy clothing on-line from places where they cover the return postage as sizing seems to be so random from one manufacturer to another.Zippy wrote: I'm a 29" waist. You need to lose 1" from your waist.by Zippy » Tue Jan 10, 2017 2:59 pm

Crikey, how much have a sale on. Amongst other things the Brevet Bib Shorts are down to £100 from £180. You'll need to be an XS or a medium though.

Thanks for that. Picked up one to keep in stock... and a load of other stuff while I was at it. I find Halfords really good these days. They're convenient for me and price match the likes of CRC on chains and cassettes (if they're not already cheaper), and I always seem to get something cheaper than expected. A few months ago I got a BB for £1. The guy on the till was as confused as me.Anyway, 10spd HG95 (XT) chains for £11.36 in Halfords.
45% reduction... that's more of a bargain than 10% off anything.Bearbonesnorm wrote:I do wonder whether Crikey, how much should have their own thread ... announcing a Crikey, how much sale in Bargain Alert seems like a weird contradiction.
Oh yeah, in % terms it's a big saving, can't argue with that ... but it's still £100 for a pair of bibs. Perhaps if you thought £180 was reasonable, then £100 could be seen as a true bargain.45% reduction... that's more of a bargain than 10% off anything.
All about cost per use, or per KM. Ride enough, and expensive shorts are worth it. I previously got 9 years out of a pair of eyewateringly expensive Assos shorts. I'd buy more but I've a few pairs of Pactimo shorts to work through first. I will happily spend more on decent bibs than "normal" riding clothes if I know they will outlast the cheap ones without losing shape or performance.Bearbonesnorm wrote:Oh yeah, in % terms it's a big saving, can't argue with that ... but it's still £100 for a pair of bibs. Is that not a bit like saying, Pol Pot wasn't such a bad bloke because that Hiltler fella was much worsehttp://www.wiggle.co.uk/assos-tcampioni ... ib-shorts/ makes £180 seem cheap...
But does that still stand up if you compare a £100+ XTR rear mech' to a £40 SLX one? It's no different to wondering why XTR and Acera are so different in price yet do the same job. One will survive a few years of abuse, one will be replaced more often.
All about the panda :)Bearbonesnorm wrote:Is that not a bit like saying, Pol Pot wasn't such a bad bloke because that Hiltler fella was much worsehttp://www.wiggle.co.uk/assos-tcampioni ... ib-shorts/ makes £180 seem cheap...![]()

I've being called cantankerous, grumpy and miserable already this week, so I'll finish off with a Panda ... just to prove I'm not![]()
You don't even get half the material you need!atk wrote:http://www.wiggle.co.uk/assos-tcampioni ... ib-shorts/ makes £180 seem cheap...
They can be, but by the same token, they don't have to be expensive to last (nor does price guarantee longevity). I've got a bib I use for training that cost £50, is ridiculously comfortable and has done thousands of miles.GregMay wrote:All about cost per use, or per KM. Sounds like Morrisons but with a much longer shelf lifeHalf price food at Alpkit, short dated until end of February.
