Since it is now winter, it is time to buy new lights. Today Aldi have re-badged 'Moon' lights in. I got one of each type and they are the real deal. USB charged.

The £10 front and rear light double pack are the £25 each Moon Comet (100 lumen front, 35 rear).

The posher £13 rear is the £40 Moon Nebula (100 lumen - bonkers eye-watering for a rear)

If anyone happens to be going near Aldi and also happens to be riding the BB200 ... you couldn't do me a favour and pick me up one of the posh rear lights could you?

They are great...but beware that if similar to the Moon - they don't fade and go dim, they just turn off when the battery runs out.

Also, not the most weather resistant. Bloody bright though.

Echo the above on those lights.

I bought some last year. Consigned to pub bike now. Very bright.....about as wayer resistant as tissue paper. Mine was on the chainstays and still declined to work in the rain. On the plus side work again once dried out. I bought some smart 1w alikes from planet x at 3 quid a popghat have been much better even if they do lack a rechargeable battery

Also bought a set of both types yesterday.

I've been running a rear Comet-copy since the last time they had them (~a year) and pretty happy with it. Have never had problems in rain - it's used on my commute so has definitely got wet but I can't remember using it for a prolonged period in the wet.

At a tenner a pair, they're an absolute bargain, so got a pair for backup.

Based on this I felt confident enough to give the Nebula-copies a go. Only charged them so far but quality looks good and pretty bright. I was concerned about battery life, but stated time on the minimum solid brightness is 7.5hrs so will do me a couple of weeks commuting, or a full overnighter in the summer. On maximum brightness it's only an hour though.

Popped to Aldi today to do battle with the hoi polloi. Resisted the temptation to come out with a merino hat and sealskin socks and just get the lights. The strobe on the rear posh light is likely to cause following riders to have a fit!

Edit: The nebula copy also comes with a USB cable, stretchy rubber mount, clothes/bag clip mount (fits vertical/horizontal for both) and a seat rail mount.

I'd been after a Montane Sabretooth softshell for ages but price kept putting me off. Currently at Surfdome for £87.50 (RRP £170 ish and often £120+ in many places with anything but the less popular sizes) with free delivery (next day) and everything but medium by the looks of it.

I've been looking at these from another seller. (There's one on eBay as well at the moment) from reviews I've found quality isn't as good as the trailstar but is ok. Given the price differences though what would you expect?

Got to be worth a punt, I've been looking for a trailstar but the price puts me off.

I bought some kit last month and whilst it wasn't quick to arrive it was good quality.
Took about 2.5 weeks to arrive.

I've had a couple of bits from AliE. It's always been cheap and has arrived. There seems to be customer protection too.
