Clement Xplor MSO tubeless? Anyone?
I've spent all afternoon trying to set these up, driving me nuts.
Tubeless rims, stans tape and valve.
I've used a tube for a few days to set them. I've tried everything and all the extra tricks. Double tape, lubed the rims, garage compressor etc...
Is anyone using theirs tubeless? And how?

I tried when they were new, but couldn't get then to seal.
Can't really be bothered trying again, so just going to run with tubes.

I tried, and tried again, bought a garage compressor, tried again, took them to a lbs, tried again at home - no joy!
Now using tubes and don't have the energy to try one final time.
The only thought I might try at some point was that I could put the tubeless rim tape in, whack in a tube, inflate fully, deflate, remove the tiniest section of tyre from the rim, cut/remove the tube, add the tubeless valve, add some stans liquid and then try and reseal.
But I've not got the time or inclination to attempt it before Turin so I'll be tubed-up!

I thought I was going nuts! Tubeless my arse!
I may have to try just once more....

How are they not working? Tyre not sealing or rim strip leaking?
Re: Clement Xplor MSO tubeless? Anyone?
I can one side to seal using a tube first. Having removed the tube to change the valve there's no way I can get the second side onto the edge of the rim. I've coaxed most of it on using a lever but the last bit won't go, I can't get enough air quick enough to to force it on as its so tight.slarge wrote:How are they not working? I will try a more ghetto approach this morning, inner tube cut down the middle.
Re: Clement Xplor MSO tubeless? Anyone?
Keep the bead of the tyre in the central groove in the rim until it's all mounted, then faff around near the valve to get the tyre beads the correct side of the valve, then inflate.
My first go on a pair of new wheels broke 5 tyre levers until I won.

Only issue I've had was the rim needed an extra wrap of tape, and they would only go up on the compressor, not the track pump. Have been flawless since.

Sorted, 24" split presta tube with removable valve core. Touch of Stans and all's good.
Now for the front....

Almost pulled the trigger on these for the Turin-Nice, but glad I was put-off by the price after reading this!
Now running a Specialised Purgatory 2.0 front and Panaracer Gravel King 40c on the back; the Pan is a bit heavy (more than the Spesh), but both went up tubeless real easy. Struggling to get used to a rigid fork; anything remotely bumpy feels horrible and I have to back right off on the descents - the opposite of fun! Running 40psi(R) and 35(F), which feel like solid rubber, but keeps it rolling well on the road.

Whenever I have trouble getting a tyre to seat I just keep adding more tape and eventually they go up! Even none tubeless on a standard rim!

Exactly. Sounds like anyone having trouble with these tyres, doesn't understand this basic tubeless trick. Less gap = easier pressure build up.cycleofaddiction wrote:Whenever I have trouble getting a tyre to seat I just keep adding more tape and eventually they go up! Even none tubeless on a standard rim!

I must have been lucky with the other 10 or so tyre/rim combos then I guess.mountainbaker wrote:Exactly. Me too, the other countless successful times must have been pure luck and this time my haplessness and ineptitude finally caught up with me!
Weird that three experienced people, who have somehow managed to bumble through many many tubeless conversions, all came unstuck on this particular tyre though, no?
*Edit: I wrote the above in a rush and reading it back I feel the dry sarcastic tone is not entirely evident and I came across actually pissy which I didn't intend - as you were.

Maybe I've got a different batch then? As it wasn't that hard. Harder than other tyres, but not impossible. I got mine about a year ago.
Or maybe I have magic hands.
The rear one is wearing out a bit now, and I'll replace with another one probably, as I really like them, will let you know if it's a ballache to fit.

Tubeless can be frustrating - did three Bontrager XR3s on to Hope XC rims without problems, the fourth one on to same rim was anything but easy and needed a compressor. Everything including rim tape was identical but it really didn't want to seat.
