Norfolk gravel

Post by Al »

This may be a little off topic for this forum....

Our lovely little Norfolk village (old buckenham) is having a mini cycling / beer festival 3rd Sept with a Strade Bianchi style sportive:

I'm just going to do the 50mile loop and head for the beer tent! (Have maxed out my babysitting credits already this summer).
Not sure how big it's going to be but the route looks good and there should be plent of nice beers!

I was thinking of the 50. I'm hoping I can convince the girls they want to drive me over and allow me to ride and drink. Is there plenty of good riding your side of Norfolk?

Brandon country park (and to a certain degree thetford forest) has some
lovely single track and wild camp spots.

No end of quiet little lanes, but Wales it ain't!

Where abouts are you?

Between Swaffham and Downham, so not far North of Thetford, but I tend to give it a wide berth and stick to mixing it up around here. What we lack in hills we make up for in head winds and you can put together some great long rides with minimal traffic. If you ever want to hook up, let me know.

I hear you about the wind!
Found some great riding mundford way before - it sounds like that's your patch?
Will give you a shout sometime if I don't bump into you at the old buck ride.

For my last outing I slept in one of the Teepees in High Lodge. I could get my bike in as well and the disabled loos are open all night. :-bd
