I was thinking that I will be the only person turning up with more than a spare inner tube, a role of tin foil and some balloons. Your kit list will be similar in weight to mine.

Are people carrying much water? I am not sure just how many open shops we will pass and thinking of capacity for 4l or so. basically filling my frame bag. Many seem to be coping with a couple of bottles. I will need extra for cooking but still think I may be taking too much.

You certainly shouldn't be short of water options Blackhound, exercise a little caution/care and you'll find plenty out there to drink and cook with ... I hardly ever carry more than one 750ml bottle plus some kind of bladder/ platypus to fill and use for camp duties.

I've got a couple of bottles on the bike & a 2L Platypus bladder in the seat pack that I can fill up when required (probably just for the evening). I'll be relying on purification tabs as I don't think there'll be a shortage of water on our route at least ;)

Im taking 2 x 750ml bottles with a 1L platypus collapsable bottle/iodine/millbank bag.

I wouldn't carry 4L.

Fill up in streams etc. most are clean, just take from as high up and fast flowing as possible (dont fall in!). away from grazing fields is best.

If your worried you can filter/chem treat it. Im taking some bits but knowing me and being too lazy I will probably justtake it right out of the stream!

the 1L plat is to collect water last thing before camping to use 500ml for a meal and 500ml for breakfast. With the impending weather I doubt collecting water will be an issue.

Been saying to some of our party we should be able to collect sufficient for cooking out of streams. I can't find my purification tabs and have no filter but happy to boil. Might just go with 2l or so with capacity to pick a bit up for evening cooking.

My list - subject to late change of mind:

Brunton pot set - no gas, someone else carrying
MSR ti mug, Spork, dish

Craft leg warmers, base layer, warm gloves
Socks
Finisterre Bise gilet
Spare batteries for gps, Exposure joystick, mp3 player, camera battery

GPS on handlebar (Dakota 20)

Wildcat framebag:
Water, map, some food

Fueltank:
Nakd bars, Elevenses,

Under saddle:
Wildcat tiger prototype;-)
TN Photon Elite tent - including proper pegs
Neoair
Western Mountaineering bag with silk liner,
Ibex merino beanie, M&S underwear

Small bumbag or '98 Camelbak Mule:
Food, mini-lock, cash, cards, camera, mobile phone

Pockets:
Food,
Craft waterproof, I hope!
Craft gilet if not worn

Food likely to be:
1 or 2 malt loaves
3 Nakd bars
Elevenses
Jelly babies,

1 Ainsley Harriett cous-cous

funny you should mention this - here's a nice photograph of a waterproof gillet i made the other day whilst working in the greenhouse when it started raining just as i needed to get something from the house:

cheers, gairy.

p.s. am finding reading everyone's kit-lists really helpful in planning my own for my big summer trip (unfortunately not able to make it to the WRT).
