Mine prep has vanished nearly! After spending all year structuring training for the YD300 it seems since then motivation has dwindled abit and time available has as well, I'm blaming the 3 hour round trip commute killing motivation on an evening and the missus being away for the 2 weeks on a training course in London town leaving me looking after the household dwarf, I have full sympathy for single parents my head is battered!

I wasn't so bad for a while but I'm wondering if it (the YD300) is catching up with me - this last week or two I've just felt shattered - though it might be the other week's downhill action in Chamonix - felt frazzled after that  .

A new sprog in April scuppered most of my riding through the summer, but having been ticking over trying to keep some base fitness I'm starting to get both my mojo and some time to increase the miles. The Drove Roads 200k audax this Sunday http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/15-290/ on the CX bike should be a good start; if nothing else the weather forecast looks like it'll be good mental prep for 24 hours round Wales in October.

This training is horrific... but I'm really hoping it will allow me to at least enjoy the BB200 a little bit.

Drove Roads 200k audax yesterday went well enough. Tailed off a bit towards the end because my long-distance fitness isn't up to scratch this year, but managed to hang on to the Didcot Phoenix roadies on slicks on the road sections during the second half (once I'd caught them on the gravel sections ha!). Also had 2 solid hours of thunderstorm drenching as we crossed Salisbury Plain which is always good for building mental strength

Next up, a weekday lap of the Dorset Gravel Dash 2015 route once the weather dries up a bit.

I really do need to get one crazy long real ride done before October. It'll have to be a solo effort though, I don't know anyone crazy enough to do them with me. ;)

Just testing out all my lights / batteries. Sort of useful to know just how long each is going to last at what power level as given the choice I'd rather not stop and sleep.

Carry spare batteries...then you've only gotta worry about (a) having cheap batteries that don't last long; or (b) having a light that chews through batteries.

(At this point, I would digress and say get a Joystick and be done with the worry - 20+ hrs on low #3 setting with enough light to get you by. If you're out in the boonies beyond that, recharge it with USB wall plug when you're in a pub getting a cold drink/hot meal).

Eveready Lithium Ultras FTW.

My sole light was a Joystick with single cell piggyback in 2013 ... still had a little life in when I got back.
