Funny, the video doesn't show much of that being drunk - maybe it was for the camera person not the worker?

Feck knows what I was gibbering about here, can't even remember writing it. Very lovely bikes!

My OCD was so pleased to see in the photo that the front brake hose has been correctly run down the inside of the fork leg. I was having an OCD attack during the video!

To be honest, there was a right amount of fiddling with cable routing that went in afterwards to get everything to play nicely. First acquaintance with a Rohloff and quite tricky getting the cables to sit right :???:

Were the cables and outers already installed to the shifter box?

Yes, they were - it was a pre-loved Rohloff. In the end it all came to bits anyway as we completely re-did the routing to work around a Mountain Lion harness. Also changed the angle on the axle plate so the shifter box sat closer to the chainstay.

Easy to do?

I may be building one up from scratch soon.

Reasonably easy. There are some helpful "how to's" on youtube from Rohloff and we followed those without any problems.

The one thing that is really easy to do, is to round off the T20 screws on the axle plate
Get yourself a good T20 bit and apply force squarely and progressively and you should be OK.

No, it was my own hamfistedness resulting in not a) getting a proper purchase on the bolt in the first place and b) not purchasing decent enough tools back in the day when Torx bolts weren't that common an occurrence.

Still, Keep Pedalling came to my rescue with a small bag of replacement bolts dispatched first class the following day :-bd

Featured on Singletrack no less...

That bike build one is not real, for many reasons.

At no point does she throw a tool across the room and shout an epithet at the top of her voice with veins standing out on her forehead.

At no point does she have to go online and order a part due to a compatibility mixup.

At no point does she drop a small part and watch as it defies the laws of physics by accelerating with no discernible force acting on it so that it shoots under a shed/fridge/boiler.

It’s the most fictitious bike maintenance type vid since the guy at Hope pulled the end caps off of a pro ii axle with his fingers.

This is not how it really works.

To be fair to Beth, most of that didn't actually happen. Proper preparation and all that :)

I had a look in from time to time and it all looked good, so I made a swift exit.
