Cheap source for 6902 2RS?

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Rear wheel bearings are on their way out, I've stripped and greased them so I'm mobile but before I buy some new ones I wondered whether anyone had a source for quality 6902 bearings (SKF, FAG, etc)? Wiggle are listing Hope bearings at a touch over £4 each but that seems too cheap for a 'named' bearing, anyone confirm or deny what bearings Hope fit as OE?

Ta very muchly.

Pretty sure it's SKF.

I use eBay, and buy cheap packs of 10 - they don't last ages, but if they are quick to change I don't mind. It's rare that all 4 in a rear wheel need doing at the same time, normally it's an outer on or the one nearest the freehub flange. I have been known to strip new cheap bearing to repack with grease, and then put a layer of grease on the outside of the bearing after installation as a further water barrier.

I just ordered 4 6902s from Kael / Katec via ebay. He re-packs and seals good quality bearings, they seem to last well. The others I've had from him consistently outlasted the ones that came with Hope hubs so these are going in the Paul front hubs I have. VFM rather than cheap, but still not that pricey either.

Simply bearings offer most, from skf level good to cheap as chips

Also. Cheap kits including seals from here

They don't last for ever but seem ok so far

Just ordered some 'All stainless' bearings from Daves mbbearings link, under £20 delivered for 4 ... I do hope 'All stainless' includes the cages.

Thanks for the suggestions.
