Highland Trail 2015

Post by Richpips »

So, entries open on Monday.

Who's up for it?

Will it fill up this year with the pre-race entry vetting?

I think Alan wanted Quality over Quantity next year.

I am surprised that theres no mention of having to have completed a Qualifying Event on the website.

Thought you were never doing it again
I did say that at the time. Then I wrote http://phased.co.uk/the-highland-trail-550/ and thought about it more. Then I survived and did a decent'ish time on the BB200, all of this helped me build a coping strategy that I hope will see me through. After the HT500 I did my first ever 250 mile ride and a few weeks back a 150 for the hell of it. I reckon I've got my head into the right place now.

As for the shorts, turns out it was the saddle. I stuck a Charge Spoon on, did 1000 miles on it and it fits my arse perfectly now.

You're in Dave. I'm in too! With Rich that makes three.
I have a feeling demand for places will be high.

I do have a qualifying event/time from the bb200. But am fairly sure that this year I'm going to focus on the cairngorm loop and the borders ITT to get a bit more multiday experience. Ht550 the year after I reckon

I think I have the qualifying points, just need the brownie points.........

In case anyone was wondering, I'm not going to ride it next year. Need a year off it I think. Would like to focus on a few other things, not least my son's birthday which is the same weekend

I'm in again. I would have thought I'd have learned last year, but I really want to put myself through the pain, because it's bloody good fun!!

At the risk of seeming like I'm obsessed, entries are now open.

I've put my name down for this and also the Cairngorms Loop three weeks prior. It makes for a perfect warmup event and a great race in its own right.

What on earth did you do that for Alasdair, you're guaranteed due to your 2015 finish

I may have exaggerated but I did send my email just after 12 - I was up at the time and wanted to make sure I got my entry through early so I wasn't getting in just because of my finish.

Are you in too Dave?

Definitely. We'll need to catch up again at the youth hostel for a pre-eaten wayfarer meal...

The one I bought stayed in my pack until the night of day 2, and wasn't worth carrying tbh.

12.02 for me.... Afterward I felt a bit stupid but looks like I'm in good company! Early training in staying up late!

Ha ha. Glad I didn't carry it, it was grim
