Give me a clue what happens here.

Can we do it as a pair?

My understanding is that we ride about for 2 days, from grid ref to grid ref, getting wet and cold, then sleep under a rock, then do some more on Sunday. All in have a good time? Bump into other similarly cold & wet people, have a laugh at each other?

Pretty much bang on Chris, sounds great when you put it like that ^

You've missed the eating toast, drinking tea and goodies on Sat and more tea and cake on Sun.

You can ride with whoever you want. If you're on your own, then it's unlikely you'll be that way for long (unless you want to be).

That's my understanding too, ChrisE. Solo, pair, group, at your own speed; travel as far as you wish though I believe that, unlike the WRT, there is a specific destination.

Now, are we allowed to guess the 'Ford Fiesta'. My guess is that the road below Strata Florida which really is a fiesta of fords is probably a bit too distant so, where do you think the destination ford may be?
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Hmmm compared to some previous 'checkpoints' it's positively local :-bd

I hope you're not referring to the year we had one out in the Irish sea? ... simple mistake anyone could make

I'm in. With a chum who has never bivvied before so this seemed a good way to start. Told her it's just a long ride but we sleep out. Didn't over emphasis the winter bit but I presume that's the exciting* part, yes?

*exciting might not be quite the word I'm looking for.

Depends if you'll be actually sleeping or not... /:)

I assumed the fiesta bit of name meant there would be lots of fords, some of which with a gnome guarding?

IN!

We just decided about a January visit to the UK and ten minutes after the tunnel was booked I'd (foolishly?) entered.

Why?

There's still a couple of weeks to go but 40 - 50 is usual.

No major reason

Want to book a B&B for the Friday night and it's good to know how busy they might be!

There'll hopefully be three of us

Hello,

I entered a couple of weeks ago, but haven't heard anything. Should I have got an email acknowledging my entry?

Cheers

No, all you'll have at present is your receipt from the paypal payment. You won't hear anything else until Christmas eve.

Just entered, so am looking to getting lost in Mid Wales again!!!!!

If anyone wants a lift from the Kent area, then I'll be travelling up on the Friday with plenty of space.

If I arrive latish on Friday, is there any problem parking a van/smallish motorhome on the community centre car park for the night or am I likely to be turfed off at 2 in the morning.
I'm really just being tight and trying to avoid paying for a B&B for a night and I can't find any open camp sites close by :???:

I take it there will be somewhere to fill water bottles up at the start but how about the bivvy point? Just thinking ahead of how much water capacity to take!

Depends where you bivi

In mid Wales you'll never be short of water, so as long as you use a bit of common sense just fill up from streams as needed.
