Velocity Blunt 35 rims

Had a brief go with Zigrat's front wheel at the Shindig, which is shod with these rims. Seemed to work well on a Ardent tyre and tracked very well over the rough terrain of Glen Ample.

Looking at getting wheel built up with them (front and rear). Trouble is, I can't find anywhere with any stock...
Anyone know of anywhere that has them?

Which bike are you running your blunts on then?

My Jones, a Blunt is full time on the Rohloffed rear and when I fancy a change from the fat front I now stick the Blunt on it. #LoveThatBike

I like blunts too. Rode them on the trans Nevada (rear) with a 2.4 ardent. Very nice. Also use a front regularntoo.
If rich and shona can't get them, try Jon at just riding along, he quotes 5 days ish.

I *think* Brick Lane Bikes are the importers but they don't seem to have any stock. Can't decide whether to go Blunt or Dually on the front of my Stooge.

100 grams difference In weight (give or take 10g from memory)
Ardent 2.4 is 65.3mm on a dually and 61.8 on a blunt
Measured just now. One is a folding tyre, one a wired. Dunno which.
Clearance gets pretty close in some frames on adually

Good to know this, thanks Dave. Thinking of getting 35mm chinese crabon rims for new wheelset, nice n fat. Plenty of clearance going by my latest frame drawings from Russia

No probs. I have a few tires kicking about I can measure on blunts, I'm less likely to swap tyres on my duallys as they're an arse to inflate tubeless.
I have a few meSurements written down too, let me know if there's anytiing specific

At 420g, they look quite attractive compared to 560g for the Blunt.

Ian, there's a massive thread on STW and others on MTBR re those Light Bicycle rims. My summary: they're fine.

Mine* have done about 1600 miles, and I've ridden them hard through some nasty rocky stuff, totally true still. Composite has probably done 2000+ miles on them I guess, and his are all good too.

* ours are the 30mm ones, but they are basically the same rim and construction process.

The snow fox has just been released and there is a bit of history of Nextie testing their products on their customers - see this thread regarding their fat bike rims http://forums.mtbr.com/fat-bikes/nextie ... 669-4.html. They seem to be fairly upfront about it and seem to honour warranty issues, suppose its the compromise you make in paying less. So was going to give it 6 months before getting a set for the Krampus. All the mud thats going to be round for next 6 months will make any weight saving pointless anyway

Ian, try Just Riding along for the blunts - says 6 days on the website. They built mine for my Fargo, can't fault em. But if I was buying again would probably go with what others have said and try Nextie or light-bicycle carbon rims

JRA are showing out of stock (not 6 day availability) on 29er rims. Keep Pedalling have 1 in stock, next delivery is 10 weeks away.

Whilst it's a wedge more money, and a lottery on customs duty, I'm leaning toward the carbon ones.
