Samhain Scotland weekender

Post by Fargoist »

Thinking of being part of a group ride for Samhain, with possibility of celebrations round a fire. Based in Argyll and can travel within local and neighbouring counties. Did think of the Southern loop of HT550 for an idea, any takers?

Fellow Argyll boner and could potentially be up for something. Not particularly fast these days right enough.

Stay in the banks of Loch Fyne in Argyll.

Hi Keith! Couldnt really class me as fast these days, but even when fit like the occasional steady one to get time to appreciate the views. Let me know where is good for you? Havent done much at all in the area so be mostly new. I stay on Southern edge of loch etive so we must be fairly close.

Hopefully stir up some more interest

Just spent 3 nights up Loch Etive. Finished yesterday. (By kayak though). A great place for a lochside fire. It's Scotland, don't listen to the others. There is a great beach north of where the Kinglass enters. It's a couple of km long, so always some drift wood. But the trail to it may be too tame.

Nice! I'm too well aware how fortunate I am to live in this truly beautiful spot. It rains a bit, but when it isn't its spectacular! You will have caught the recent spell of dry weather! Know the spot you speak of, glen kinglass is a braw spot.

Cath and I did a loop from Victoria Bridge, down Glen Kinglass, alongside the loch, up to the Kingshouse and back via the WHW. Trip report here https://bearbonesbikepacking.co.uk/phpB ... p?p=289883 fairly easy to get to the beach but there's a bit of bush whacking near the end. Definitely no "flow" as you head northward though!

Yet to fully circumnavigate that end of the loch, done sections of it. Lots of good spots to bivi and bothies too.

Where are the bothies?
I heard there is one on the west side. On old maps it is marked as a school.

Building 3 crannogs, the village on land is worth a visit alone.
