HT550 - Steve Bate's winter attempt

Post by whitestone »

Not sure if this has been posted before but I just came across this video of Steve Bate's winter attempt. Warning - it gets a bit gruesome towards the end if you are squeamish. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L--HG4flHdc

Saw that last year - quite a tale! Wonder if anyone is going to have a go this year?

On a related noted, following up on Postierich's post below, the bridge as you leave Rannoch forest has been taken out by the storm last week. Doubtful if it will get replaced anytime soon as it leads into the forest but clearly doesn't get used by the landowner of FC. It's a core path so P&K council may do something about it....

I did think it might have been that one but there's another bridge you cross on the same burn a km or so later that it could have been. From memory unless there's been a lot of rain it's not a big flow but has steep banks, certainly on the forestry side. A bit awkward since it's on the boundary between the forestry and open land so both owners will no doubt state that it's the other's responsibility.

Nah. You'd have crossed easily this year as there was BA water in it!

Blimey! Fair play to him for the attempt, but that looked grim!

Worth reading his blog about it - https://www.stevebatembe.com/post/arcti ... l-550-2022
He says himself he got some key kit wrong (boots) and failed to realise what the weather would turn out like. It's funny looking back as that was about the only winter we got last year!

It's the exact same video as the original posted 9 months ago. Is this content creator just doing a bit of 'reupload' by nabbing the original vid
