Montanas Vacias anyone?

Post by BreninBeener »

Im looking for a fun and tough route for late April/early May.

The Montanas Vacias circular route looks really good to me. It seems like it will be pleasant weather without getting too cold up high.

It also seems nicely remote and exciting. Add this to the circular nature and easy flight out, and it looks ideal for me.

Anybody got any observations or experience?

Thanks

Ian

It's definitely worth sending the creator of the route- Ernesto, a message with your plans, you could not meet a nicer guy & i'm sure he'd be more than forthcoming with advice.
I've never ridden the route myself, but i get the impression that food & accomodation options could be limited, especially at certain times of the year. We rode with Ernesto at times during the 2022 Veneto Trail & we chatted about the route & area quite a bit, he said that some food & accomodation places had opened up (in part) to cater for people riding the route & was hoping that more would join them.. It's on my bucket list!
I'm fairly sure that Pistonbroke (Duncan) from these parts, has ridden it though. Hopefully he'll be along soon to help :-bd

I've been there in late April and had snow.
