Swap shop son hub

Post by sqibjib »

Afternoon all,

Right all a bit of a mess up by yours truly, so it's got to be a bit of a Keith chegwin ( if your old enough to understand ) if not YouTube swap shop TV program. I use to watch tiswaz as I was not square enough for BBC rubbish even at a tender age. The only good bit about swap shop was when the quo came on still pissed up from the night before classic.🤣🤣

Any way after a bit of googling and a bit of stressing I have found out that my son 28 hub cannot retro fit a 12mm end caps but can go from 12mm to qr. Go figure sad news for me.
So if anyone would like to swap a qr hub for a 12mm I would shower them with chocolate bars and beer ya.

If not it looks like the wheel will be up for sale.

Son 28 qr hub laced to a 29 X 23mm inner rim DT spokes.
I have used 32mm tyres and 2.25 MTB tyres with this rim.

£180 posted.

Cheers Stu

Hi mate I made a vaguely similar mistake recently.

I purchased a SON delux 12mm hub thinking it was a SON 28.

So I’m not after a swap for a QR but have a 12mm Dynamo for sale (albeit the delux) which I believe needs you to go faster to get the highest wattage. Dunno if that helps at all.

Hi Tom

I was looking for the 28 as I don't go that fast as I am normally fully loaded. Looking at the hub road test review, believe me you don't want to try and read it. I might get my friend who has a physics doc to explain it to me. Hell's wattage drag and speed it's a nightmare.

Is the hub 32 spoke and how much are you looking for the hub.

Cheers Stuart

Looking for £160 which is what I paid for it.

It’s a fully reconditioned one with paperwork

🤣🤣🤣 sorry away with the fairies. It's a black one only used it last winter a few times for lights and a few trips in the summer for power banks. It's an amazing hub. Works great with my sinewave beacon.
