Hafron Forest Bunkhouse
The above seems to have gone all upmarket now and the prices are accordingly so. Any other budget options in the area that involve a proper bed, as kipping in the car or bivi nearby aren't the best options?
My other option is our friends in Ludlow but that's still a longish drive early in the morning.

Cringoed campsite have 'Hobbit houses' which don't seem too badly priced if you can find someone to share.

For BB200? Wynnstay Arms?
Re: Hafron Forest Bunkhouse
All the local places I have tried including winstanley are £75-£125 for Friday night.
Don’t want to spend that much. Will sort something out.

Got a double room in a place called toad hall in Mac. Looks basic but it has ok reviews. I’ll be arriving late and leaving early so it should do.
If anybody else needs a room they are £28 on booking.com two rooms left.
Hafron used to be about £15-20 but are now £50.

Toad Hall us ok, a bit basic but the owner is great. We turned up about 7pm, getting dark, with the town full but she did what she could to get us in.
We were very grateful to her.

Glad to hear it's ok. Looks basic but clean, I'm not too fussy for a 8 hour stay. It has a kitchen so I'll be able to knock up a late dinner hopefully.Blackhound wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 10:20 pm Toad Hall us ok, a bit basic but the owner is great. Re: Hafron Forest Bunkhouse
The last twice I've stayed at the Wynnstay, it's cost me £25 for a room, dinner (jacket potato) and a pint. It feels like I'm robbing her blind at that price and would happily pay a bit more. I know what I'm getting though and I'm not disappointed.

There are quite a few Wynnstay Arms, are you sure you chose the right one?
As Boab notes £25- £30 seems to be what Pauline charges.

I've just checked and its £25 each including breakfast. It seems unfair really but I'll try put plenty behind the bar on Friday
Re: Hafron Forest Bunkhouse
I'm yet to stay there. Must try it at some point as it's bloody close!
Re: Hafron Forest Bunkhouse
They sold out over a month ago though, that's the issue. The lady said she wished she had another six rooms as she could have filled them as well.

It can sometimes be worth checking the day before, as people do cancel.

TBH Toad Hall should be ok and it's only 15 mins away I guess.
