Finland... Quite the place I want to be Enjoy! We're off to Estonia for two weeks in September, can't wait.
Cheery day here, mainly because the weather's remembered it's summer, for a few days at least (sat outside the pub til late Wednesday, and in the garden with pizza and music last night, in shorts and t-shirts). Joined a club ride this morning, couple of hours down the coast for a coffee and back. South Tyneside isn't so bad after all.
Off up to see a friend in Innerleithen and ride bikes this weekend, so the outlook is cheery too.

Mind it's the world champ XC race tomorrow so the place will be mobbed and Glen tress off limits unless you shell out 30 bar. A few cheeky ways in thoughthenorthwind wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 5:16 pm

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
A bit of an "Oh, bugger!" today
Went for a short ride and thought the rear wheel was acting a bit odd. Just on the lane down to the house I looked back and saw a rather large wobble. Got home and checked for play in the bearings, none. Then went round checking spoke tension when I noticed...
One of the spokes/nipples had started to pull out of the rim!

wasn't on my own. I know times are hard, but we're not at the sharing t-shirts stage yet.
You can wear the t-shirt between 12 and 2 and then it's my turn

Yes and I never go there now since I left Edinburgh - Captains road, Minchmoor and the lovely descent from Kirkhope Law down to Peebles...thenorthwind wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:21 pm

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Spent the day canoeing on the Loire, generally cheery until we put the 2 kids in the same canoe and they had a strop... And then booked a place for the BB200 second weekend

Went to Blackpool yesterday to scatter some ashes for a relative who started his working life in the RAF - Wasn't aware there was an air show on, so it was a nice touch that he went into the sea with a Typhoon making a racket overhead.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Maybe Magic Monday for this.
Just dug out an Ortlieb handlebar bag that I hadn't used for some time. It's more road tourer oriented than bikepacking. The mount *was* inside the bag so one less thing to worry about. Then I noticed the lockable release catch but no key luckily it was unlocked so everything was at least usable.
Wander round to the rack of keys by the door and pick one up. Doesn't have "Ortlieb" stamped on it but it loos about the right size so I give it a go...
It's the right key! just how lucky is that?

So the Orange Manbaby's latest prosecutor is called.... Fanny Willies.
I'm sure she came on our Rude Place Names Tour but I could be wrong.

Just woken up next to the hound, on a "girls night out" glamping it.
Soon time to put on some coffee.
Narrowly avoided putting myself forward for a new job then had the good sense not to...
Looking forward to a weekend of seeing friends and going RAVIN' !!

Well I woke up on Lord Rothschild's front lawn this morning so that's pretty damn impressive I reckon.

Drunk? with no idea how you got there? Next to Lord Rothschild himself? (who brings to mind Paul Whitehouse's drunken toff character!)

What an uncannily accurate portrayal of the proceedings, given that you're 500 miles away! What on earth gave us away?fatbikephil wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 1:07 pmDrunk? with no idea how you got there? Next to Lord Rothschild himself? (who brings to mind Paul Whitehouse's drunken toff character!)
And, as is customary with these sort of situations, I didn't have any trousers on either.
