That's a bit deep there Stu...but true no doubt.

Absolutely agree with that from my own experiences!

I'd say the availability of spar shops en-route also plays a part

How's training going (for the normal non-superhuman folk). Today, some wet uphill riding with a slippery tyre and about 2000ft of elevation in just a few miles. Proper head-masher of which I reckon will have helped for the upcoming 'everyones favourite ride'.

Probably will need to make a few changes to the bike set up. Non-skipping tyre up back; full framebag to carry water; backpack to maybe carry some ultralight sleeping kit and backup foodstuff; main food in framebag... etc etc.

Not sure if I'm looking forward to it this year but it'll be my 4th entry in 5 years. Of them 2 were completed (either last person back of the finishers or second to last, with plenty of sleep enroute) and that there solo-covid version was scratched. But still classed as a win cos I didn't end up lost in thw wild!! Was probably the most exciting (but difficult mentally) one aswell. Especially with thwm wild horses at the top of that mountain somewhere near/on Offas Dyke.

Look forward to other peoples strategies. I've also told Graham that we shohld maybe try and ride todather for as long as poss (previous two group starts and we rode together for at least the first 5 miles... maybe we could make it 50 without telling Stu or sharing kit etc etc).

Three weeks off the bike due to holiday and post-holiday lethargy. The weather isn't helping, but I am cycle commuting today though, for the first time in a few years.

Also realised the other day that I'd double booked myself when booking the first weekend. Am off to see Peter Kay at the O2, so have requested a switch to the second weekend... 🤦
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

Switch to second weekend shouldn't be hard I imagine. Can't believe your putting Peter Kay ahead of the first BB200 for jokes

I'm same, not much riding this year due to not having a permanent work position 40 miles away. Did get myself sorted with the council bike lockers in Nottingham which is a 70ish miler, but I'd probably end up out of pocket due the the pay being mates rates and train back slightly extortionate.

We'll be right :-bd

I've got a couple of tussock challenges lined up locally and the weather this year is a lot more useful to what I'm inevitably going to get in Wales after three dry ITT's in a row but otherwise just the usual stuff. I'm kind of hoping there will be plenty of re-supply options en-route as I'm leaning toward a more leisurely approach than last year.

I will not be going with weedy WTB rangers this year!

Have just booked in at The Mount Inn, Llanidloes for the night before the event. Was fine when I stayed there before the WRT, and not too far away from the start (saves me a 5am start from home).

I noticed The Star was doing rooms again, but I think it would be odd to stay there now (for me at least).

To be fair, the rooms at the Star are nice now.

For those who aren't sad about its former glory, I'm sure it was amazing, but before my time (just)

I'm in for the second weekend, along with a friend who's not on here. Hadn't thought about the night before yet - probably end up being a stupidly early start from Sheffield (anyone want a lift?) but who knows...

I was usually on the gin at The Star. No fancy rums back then either!

Three weeks on Saturday!
Cue idle route speculation - looks like it's been a while since it went north....

Stu wrote a blog post on how he chooses the route. Without reading it again I think he said it cycles through NW, NE, SE & SW general directions. Obviously the Covid version down south threw things out by one year.

It tends to rapidly go downhill for everyone once they've set off

Any idea when you will release it Stu, just wondering if I will spend my holiday looking at maps?
