A little dongle that pairs via Bluetooth, and lets you send messages when in areas with no mobile signal.

It looks like a good cheaper alternative if you don't need tracking, just an sos.

£50 extra for 30 messages is incredibly good value and £150 is a good price
I can see it getting a lot of interest

As noted downside is no tracking

That does look useful. A message home to say where I'm stopped for the night never goes a miss.

I currently just send a screenshot off maverick GPS app on my phone that gives os grid, w3w and hope address with a os map background just incase.

Thanks for sharing and this looks very promising. Anyone know how much it costs after the 1st year for the message add on? Unless I have missed something, surely this could replace a garmin Inreach etc as long as you don't need tracking from the device?

In terms of tracking, my wife just used the Life 360 free app on her phone to track me as I travelled across Spain and from her point of view this worked very well as she could see exactly where I was. We both have Iphones (not the latest modern ones). Was also interesting for me as she would sometimes send a message knowing exactly where I was and commenting on her view of what was around etc. I suppose the only downside with an app like Life 360 for tracking is that it's reliant on your phone having a charge and signal. However the fact that it's free and most areas I visit have phone signals (even if not 24/7) this app seems great for me. Combining this new Motorola gadget and using Life 360 would seem like an ideal situation.
