Don't have an Avon rep?

Post by JohnClimber »

Stop the bus.
For those who have used Avon's Skin So Soft to keep midges at bay successfully in the past, but can't get hold of it it they don't have an Avon person knocking in their door.
It's now available on Amazon.

Skin so soft doesn't keep midges away anymore as they changed the formula - smidge is the stuff!

Yep, no longer of any use other than applying liberally and drowning them.

Aye, although I was never convinced it was much good before then. Smidge is really good - it's allowed me to deal with a few midge apocalypses with most of my sanity in tact....

Dee's a magnet for anything which bites - Horse flies are a favourite and Smidge is pretty much the only thing she's found that works ... without melting your skin off.

I thought that Skin So Soft's effectiveness came from being so oily that it gunked up the biteylittlefuckers' proboscis. Smidge is really good IME; it doesn't keep the BLFs away, but does stop them biting.

I've not found that smidge deals with horse flies at all!

I've not found anything that does for me other than heavy duty clothing or waterproofs, which kind of clashes with horse fly weather

Midgies, horse flies and mosquitos love me. I think they get a global alert when I'm out in the right conditions

Avon themselves replied to my request ref the fomula change.
They replied

" I can confirm that there has been no formulation for the Skin So Soft oil."

So ill give it another try as it's not failed me yet

Wasn't there two types of the Avon stuff? One worked and the other didn't? Maybe a cream and an oil?

The dog has spoken

He was told that (unscientifically) the SSS oil version is the one that works, & that they've even had orders off the MOD for it, who said that they even use it on their horses..

I think i'll still stick with Smidge tho :-bd
