Jan 1st 100kg 15st 9.5lb
Jan 12th 98.5kg 15st 7.0lb
Jan 19th 97.7kg 15st 5.5lb
Jan 26th 96.84kg 15st 3.5lb

Going ok. Still yoga'ing, still dry January 5 or 6 nights a week, still walking 10,000+ every day, even managed 21 miles on the bike on Sunday and hoping for 25+miles today.
Slow progress is fine by me.

I'm gonna miss this week as I like to weigh-in at the same time of day in order to keep things equal and I won't be able to tomorrow.

.....I'm running away!!!

I'm escaping the Arctic misery of the valley (every morning for the last two weeks it's been somewhere in the region of -10 to -15°c and the deathly snow and ice is making me scared to walk outside with my ankle bullsh1t).

I'm heading down to Finale Ligure for a weekend of biking in the sun to cheer me up :-bd

Not sure it'll result in any weight loss but it'll sure as sh@t improve my mental health!?!

91.6 05/01/2023
90.2 13/01/2023
90.2 20/01/2023
90.2 27/01/2023

I got my conversions mixed up and as such it looks like I’ve not lost anything, but from last week I’ve lost 1.5 lbs, now I’m 100% 90.2 kgs. I’ve just switched my scales to KG to save me being confused.

Most numbers are looking great. Don’t be disheartened with a gain or no change. The week after should see you lose a bit more which will make you feel proud.

Don’t give up. Lots of hard work going on here.

Hmm... no change in either direction so it could be worse I suppose. I'm a little surprised by today's reading, though. I've been adhering to a vegetarian diet* with no empty calories from junk food or the like. I've also been riding the bike most days including January's BAM (report to follow in due course). What's clear, though, is that I'm not achieving a calorie deficit so will attempt to keep a closer eye on my intake in the coming week.

*That's a lifestyle choice but is not related to my attempt to lose weight. For what it's worth, I haven't eaten meat since October last year and haven't missed it.

Bit disappointed to be putting back on as been trying really hard with eating and been out on the bike or in the gym every night this week. Probably overdoing it as feel flat and knackered tonight. Had planned a long cycle this weekend but might just rest tomorrow and have a wander round the forest with the dog.

Some great results coming in from everyone well done.

Seems to be quite a steady drop of around 1kg a week. Happy with that, as still not being particularly strict on eating and am hitting lots of PBs in the gym. I wonder if the last few months could be considered "neglect" or "bulking"

What I've found is that a good indicator of being at the "right" weight is whether or not I snore. And when I snore, I SNORE!

Wishing you well, Moder-dye. Not much joy there

Target - 72kg
7/1 - 73.8kg
14/1 - 72.9kg
21/1 - 73.1kg
28/1 - 73.2kg...should be doing better but even though I'm being careful and staying pretty stable, I'm still prone to snacking things I shouldn't be. My target has been at 72kg for over a year now and it won't take much to get there but getting the last little bit done seems the hardest.

I often hear people saying that the last few pounds or kilos are the hardest to shift, and I have a suggestion as to why.

You have built a habit to how much you eat. If you've been overeating and reduce your calories, you are "dieting" and lose weight. But eventually you reach an equilibrium as your now lighter body requires less calories to maintain weight equilibrium. So if you were eating 2500kcals per day and dropped that to 2000kcals a day, you will lose weight, but only until you are at a weight where 2000 kcals per day is a steady weight. To continue losing weight, you need to drop your calorie intake even further, down to 1900kcals per day for example. Then once you lose the last bit to get to your target, you can do a calculation to find out what your new equilibrium kcal consumption should be and then try to stick to that and create a new habit (which takes about 3 weeks to "set" in your mind). But if you just stick to the 2000kcal/day, you'll not lose the last part.

Very good ppint you make about snoring. Not saying any of us have that issue but along with diabetes (pushing it back or off totally as the body doesn't need to try and manage alot more sugars than it's able, has been seen in pre-diabetes folk), there is a strong link between excess body mass (some call it obesity but that's probably underplaying the severity of the issue) and sleep apnoea. Some people that are not at their ideal body weight end up stopping breathing in their sleep (due to airways obstruction), then subsequently being forced to wake up so often. That they are constantly tired during the day.

For me losing weight is exactly them few factors. Reducing the risk of (contributing to it directly myself), diabetes, knackered spine and knees, sleep apnea and obviously the big one of strokes and heart/blood vessel disease etc etc. Sorry for talking so much negativity (of the bad effects of excess weight - so just what the spine alignment therapist ordered :-bd ).

There's no doubt losing excess weight is good for us, but on the apnea side it would appear that there isn't a very strong link with OSA. A London ENT consultant I was following on YouTube due to my snore/sinus etc issues has a video where he goes through the stats of (I think 2000+) of his own patients and it's not a big factor. Skinny people have sleep apnea, fat people don't, the majority who do are distinctly average in the BMI stakes. Don't get me wrong he's not saying don't lose weight if you need to, just don't think it's the cure for OSA.

Found the video... https://youtu.be/rdR8SVCeSJg

He actually has a lot of useful videos for us airway challenged people. I got some airmax nasal dilators on the back of one of his videos and they make a massive difference to me sleeping and nose breathing. Annoyingly for me my deviated septum is still far from right despite an op on it years ago and so they make my nose quite sore after a few nights. My wife says I snore and death gurgle a lot less when I do use them.
