A New Years message ...
Before you all go and get drunk, I'd like to say, happy New Year to everyone who frequents this particular corner of the internet and may it be better than the last.
There's perhaps been a couple of times this year when I've given some thought to relinquishing my hand from the tiller of the good ship Bear Bones (stop cheering back there - yes you) but obviously I haven't. There are multiple reasons why I haven't followed that particular course of action and as of this afternoon, they numbered 2271 which is the number of registered users. I also rightly or maybe wrongly, tend to believe that the world of cycling is actually a better place with Bear Bones in it than it would be without - it might be a fine line at times but overall I figure it works out that way. So, here's to a new year, new adventures and old friends.
Right, off you go then

All the best to Dee and yourself. We need some of your lugubriousness to keep us on an even keel

Yes, Happy New Year to Dee and Stu and all you other bonny Boners.
I don't post much but visit the site every day, so I really appreciate what you do Stu. It's really the only forum I would miss if it hit an iceberg, and that is down to the atmosphere created by the users, who all seem happy to leave their axe's at the door.
Anyway, did someone mention beer?

It's good that you question what you do and why Stu - and even better that you keep deciding to keep on trucking with this community. You and Dee have set up something that had turned into something very special, and there aren't many places like this.
I feel like I have made some very good friends here, and thats down to you, so thank you and Happy New Year to you both, and see you next weekend.

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Happy New Year to you all, may 23 be full of wonderful adventure with some level of jeopardy thrown in.
Thank you Stu and Dee for this corner of the internet, in an ever sanitised world we need you more than ever

Well after nine frustratingly unsuccessful years I finally completed BAM last night.
Certainly wouldn't have managed it without your ongoing wisdom and motivation Stu (and the rest of the Boners).
Keep going Stu, our very own inspirational leader and guru... and I do realise that makes you cringe!
All the best everyone!

Happy new year all.
I’ve met a lot of you, but also have hardly met any of you, yet I feel more connected in this group of like minded ditch sleepers than any other group of people.
Thanks for the fun times from 22, hope to see more people on the coming events and random encounters!
Allen

Thanks Stuart and Dee for keeping this thing going. I may be an irregular poster but I do regularly visit the site and as others have said, met some great folk over the years. Best wishes to all in 2023.
Re: A New Years message ...
Some great comments there, and I echo all of them…
Somebody else here thinks this world is a bit insane, and it’s you Stu who preserve the balance a bit… your sometimes acerbic comments are very appropriate..
Keep up the good work please

I can't imagine bikepacking without Bear Bones, or Bear Bones without Stu, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Thanks for all you do.

I try not to but as they say life's a stage, and stages are useless without dramas being enacted upon them .thenorthwind wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 3:27 pmWouldn't disagree with that (not the drama queen bit).RIP wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 11:11 amFTFY.
