Have a hunt on eBay for Vittoria tyres, non-tubeless bomboloni and canolli ones are about £30 each, tubeless not much more from sports_and_leisure

https://sportandleisure.com/search?q=Vittoria+
Or there on the website, but eBay is generally cheaper and comes from the same shop...

These are good (but spendy) and if you decide you don't like 'em you'll sell them on here no probs

My experience, the Vittoria Bombolini comes up short around 2.8 also some have quality issues and a few can be wobbly (I have heard).
Maxxis Minions in 29x3 are often up for sale as people bought them for their trail bikes only to find their frame/forks would have clearance. I had a pair on my Trek 1120, the grip was out of this world, but getting it spinning well uphill needed out of this world superpowers. Makes the bike look terrifying.
I've rotated back to XR2 team issues. Seem to be the best all rounder where weight and a bit of a do it all tread are concerned.
