Mendips - rideable at the moment or avoid?

Post by slarge »

Any Somerset dwellers here?

I'm down in the Mendips on Thursday to get some work done on the van, and the place is right at the bottom of the Mendips. I was going to take a bike to occupy myself for the day, but not sure whether to take a road bike or mtb. What are the Mendips like with the recent rain? Are they rideable or best avoided?

Or shall I take the road bike?

Thanks, and any hints on places to see / go to appreciated. I have NT membership so don't mind stopping for a mooch and cake.

Going by this morning's rain I'd take the road bike.
Where you taking the van to?

Cheers Taylor road bike it is then.

Skyline roofs to get a lift up lid fitted. Should eek out a few more years with this van.

I'd say pop in for a brew but I'm working/staying in Reading tomorrow for the rest of the week.
Currently hosing it down again as I type.
