Keeping down gear packed

Post by barney »

I normally keep all my down gear (sleeping bags, quilts and jackets) nicely lofted at home except for when I pack them on rides in stuff sacks/dry bags.

Never made my ride on Saturday so I'm going next weekend instead. I could be lazy and leave everything packed on the bike or I could take the down stuff out for a few days.

What's the general consensus on occasionally keeping stuff packed in stuff sacks.

(I appreciate people on big trips keep things stuffed for long periods but obviously use/allow them to loft most days).

Does that make sense? 🤔
Wait for me...

I never like to keep down stuff compressed for more than a couple of days but I doubt if one week in a stuff sack would do any more damage than being taken out and and rammed back in 7 seven times over the same period.

I think the thought is what hurts most. A week really shouldn't do it any harm ... although the thought of your kit stuffed inside bags will eat away at you all week
