Ordering from the States - A Polite Request / Suggestion

Post by Cheeky Monkey »

If you are about to order stuff and are prepared to faf a little more then post up here to see if others are interested.

I only suggest this as me and FF shared the delivery on some stuff from Enlightened Equipment recently. On some stuff shipping will almost double the cost so this is a way to make the bucks go further.

If you are rich and profligrate ;) nae bother, but I saw Ianfitz' post about the Borah gear vests and thought "bugger". It'll probably never work in practice but this is the internet and not the place for rational thought and balanced propositions 8-)

Fek me, how weak willed are you ;)

Still, that's two of us. I might have to start another thread

Make that 3.. The vest is only $6 shipping according to the site tho.
If there's a few items in one package I wonder if it's more likely to attract duty+VAT? That's what put me off the vest, £66 posted but not inc taxes.

My kit hasn't shipped yet (so far as I know) I'm happy to split postage and redistribute bits to people at cost. I can email John and ask him to ship multiple orders.

From John at Borah:

No extra discount for a group buy but, "Shipping to the UK for one vest is $20, and shipping 5+ would only be $35 extra".

While I'm very tempted to get in with all the cool kids and get a Borah, I do have a perfectly functional PHD Minim that weigh only 50g more, and will probably be warmer :|

Looks like I got shipping wrong. Maybe it included basic shipping as I hadn't put in an overseas address, not bought from them b4. £60ish plus $11 share of shipping 5pcs, plus UK redirection about a fiver, sound about right? VAT and I think 12% duty would then make it about £90.

I'm more than happy for folk to piggyback my order. It won't ship for another couple of weeks, so order and contact John to say it can ship with my stuff.

More than happy to redistribute the goodies once they arrive.

Has your order been dispatched yet or is there still an opportunity to piggyback..? Contemplating a quilt...

[EDIT: Ignore me - I mis-read and thought you were ordering from Enlightened Equipment, not Borah.... :-( ]
