Parking near Hathersage

Post by robsmuddygloves »

I'm off to the Peaks tomorrow, starting in Hathersage, for a few days of biking and bivvying with a mate and was wondering if there any decent (ie safeish) places to park nearby?

Have Alpkit got a carpark?

There is a car park outside Alpkit, but it's shared with the local deli and curry house.
I'd suggest trying Oddfellows Road. There's a paid car park there, but also unrestricted parking just opposite next to the tennis courts.

If I were you, I'd try to just find a space on one of the side roads, probably near the pool?

Cheers for this. I'll have to check it out.

Other option is up the road past the Scotsman’s Pack pub. Often spaces up there and no restrictions either.

You can also park on the road leading up to the train station.
To be fair parking up near Stanage edge ( the higher the better) this time of year is also quite secure as there are usually multiple campervans parked up. And it means you start your ride with a downhill!
