Faulty Katadyn Befree filter?

Post by ripio »

Was out last week and filtered some water from a stream with my Katadyn Befree filter to refill my water bottle.
Next day felt mildly unwell.
Performed the recommended integrity test on my Befree filter and it would appear to have failed the test.
I could blow air back through the filter when it was wet.

Anyone else had issues with a Befree filter or done an integrity test with negative results?

Contacted retailer and have to send it back to them to be forwarded to Katadyn for testing as part of warranty claim.

Guess I'll have to fall back on the old Sawyer mini filter.

Whilst I have never used them i suspect its no more likely to fail than any other brand but any manufacturing process has some errors

Its also worth noting, and not much use to you now, to perform the test before you leave with it - this is what i do with my trailshot
