New bar mount for Garmin Edge with external charge contacts

Ever since the Garmin Edge external battery was released thought it would be neat if Garmin released a powered mount with a USB plug.
Well, now they have.
Shame so damn expensive.
Ideal for a BBx straight thru
Or to plug into a dynamo charge converter.

There is a usb cable option.

Sure, but the power needs to come from somewhere.
Generator hub output would need to go through a converter which you may as well plug directly into the unit.
It would save you from getting the USB port in your edge wet though, which can only be a good thing.

I read ir as giving the ability to use a separate (non Garmin) power bank. This would be great if you didn't want to spend £100 on a garmin one, or wanted a larger capacity power bank.
As well as ebike capability....

Suppose so. It’s not a bad idea - it’ll keep your edge safe whilst charging. It’s the the same price as the Garmin battery - I’m very happy with the edge/power pack combo especially with the option to top up from a dynamo.
Think I’ll wait a few years for the solar tech to get cheaper and my current edge to die.
