Tour Divide / GDMBR ?

Post by steve.howard »

Anyone riding the Tour Divide or GDMBR this year? I'm jetting off to ride the GDMBR Max on 10th June and just wondered if anyone will be on the same trails in the next couple of months or so?

No but check out the fires as there appear to be three closures

I'm riding the TD, flying out on the 6th June, starting on the 10th.

Looks like the Gila is completely closed, with reroutes being published very soon. Plus 2 other closures either happened or imminent. Us late snow at the northern end on some passes.

There's around 6 UK people riding who I am aware of including Josh Ibbett . Chris Ellison organiser or the Dale's Divide is also riding.

Thats a shame, the Gila is beautiful. Even the CT re-route has its...moments of beauty. Probably due to being totally "at one" with the race at that point.

It's also surprisingly green, and I was riding ahead of the monsoon which helped!

Best wishes Steve. I totally fell apart on the Gila nearing Silver City but it will be a good excuse to go again.

I fly out on Monday to start the TD on Friday 10th. So I'll be there. Are you starting in Jasper?

There are lots of reroutes in planning at the moment towards the dothern end and active grizzly warnings in Montana. And snow on the northern passes. Going to be an experience this year I think!!

I can’t wait to dotwatch you Steve. Think of me with crisps and beer urging you up Koko Claims. All the best, hope they sort out the fires.

In Gatwick now, bike checked in, just wasting time before I fly.....

Can't wait now. Will post some prestart stuff in Banff and when trackleaders sign up opens.
