Bivvying when ill?
I have been struggling with sinus infections and dental pain this past week and I am supposed to be heading out for an over nighter on Friday with a couple of friends.....oddly I bivvy more in winter than summer, go figure! Well I am considering playing safe and not going or cycling out with them and having a cuppa, any thoughts?

Now could be a good time to invoke the kill or cure principle. Also, the fresh air may be beneficial to your sinus - certainly better than being indoors with the heating on.

Re: Bivvying when ill?
A couple of years ago, spring time, I was feeling really crap. All choked up and it often felt when I lay my head down that I was going to drown. BAM was a thing though and I forced myself to visit a wee hut in the forest. The temperatures dropped to below freezing overnight. I had the best nights sleep in 3 weeks and I think that helped kick-start my recovery.

I will probably err on the side of caution, I cycle daily so fresh air by the bucket load.

Re: Bivvying when ill?
If it was just a sinus issue then I'd crack on and take some over the counter meds. But mild dental pain can turn into withering agony very quickly. Get that sorted before you find yourself 24 hours away from treatment that might be needed urgently.
I'm just going outside ...

Re: Bivvying when ill?
Is it just a bivvy or a BAM? If a BAM I think I’d take the view that I may as well be suffering somewhere that’s interesting as somewhere that isn’t. If it’s a bread-and-butter bivvy, then maybe not. If I’ve got pain that is bearable then I’d rather be doing something to take my mind off it than sitting at home and thinking about it.

Re: Bivvying when ill?
The dental pain is a side effect of the sinus infection. I'd be inclined to play it safe. I had the same a few years ago. One nostril running clear like a river and the other side producing runny egg yolk by the cup full. Quack said "Oh, that doesn't look good. Its probably a virus" without actually doing any tests to see if it was bacterial.
