Bike parts, where are they?

Post by Mike »

So my stooge has developed an annoying creak and iv put it down to the xt crank. Maybe it's come to its end of life? Trying to find a double 10 spd crank is well....
So I don't know whether to upgrade to the 11 spd but then I have to buy it all or just wait till it falls apart.
Could this be a sign of things to come tha ks to brexshit??

You can use an 11 speed crank with 10 speed chain etc.

The general parts shortage is worldwide and related to Covid, not Brexit

Mike, try some of the smaller online shops rather than CRC/Wiggle, Merlin, etc. I got a Sunrace 10spd cassette from Escape Bikes near Ingleton (I actually got it in shop) when there was no online stock at the big boys.

One of Shimano's factories in SE Asia has been shut because of Covid and there was a fire at another so production is going to take a while to catch up. Also one of the big bike factories in Shenzen has gone to three shifts so no doubt Shimano and Sram are sending components there. After that getting stuff into this country has of course got much harder.
