North Norfolk Coast

Post by Rapideye »

Evening All

I am hoping for a bit of help choosing a good spot around Wells-Next-The-Sea on the North Norfolk Coast. There seem to be a few People from around the area on here, so I'm hoping to pick your brains for a suitable location to head to for the night.

I had originally planned for Scotland for a few days trip but I haven't been able to fully get my act together kit-wise or distance-wise yet. All in good time, though.

So, for my next trip I thought I'd head to Wells. This is a decent enough ride out from where I live and with it, a bit more planning required too. The obvious spot to me is just off Norfolk Coast Cycleway at the beach. There is the wooded section there too, so I'm thinking that if pitching in the dunes isn't suitable, then maybe in amongst the woods would be ok? Can anyone confirm if this is a good spot? Maybe this is a bit close to holidaymakers at this time of year and another spot outside might be a better bet?

Any help is appreciated.

I rode through Holkham at the end of April looking for a place to pitch but even at dusk there was a heavy presence of dog walkers on NCN Route 1 and on the beach (the public toilet block there was nailed shut when I went past) and there were lots of people at the campsite. If you spent some time scouting the many dips in the woods you could find a secluded spot which would not be found without someone being right on top of you. I cycled inland and found a grassy spot with a few hedgerows distance from a farm track and left at first light (sent you a PM).

Ok, thanks for that, Dean. Very helpful. If the coast was busy at that time, it'll be packed in the summer. That was my fear. Your spot looks worthwhile searching out and I can look for a back-up too. Cheers again.

I was up there at the beginning of last week and had a good spot in the dunes with a great view of the sunset.
Link to my Strava shows the exact spot, no trouble with any other people, saw no one.
