I enjoyed it greatly, and took pride in providing backing vocals for Iceland's entry.

My seven year old son introduced me to Rammstein, specifically the song "Deutschland". Turn it up very, very loud.

Re: What are you listening to now?
My lad was around tonight, he is crap at choosing anything so I stuck on some Fela Kuti, followed by a little of Talking Heads- remain in light. Then he hit me with the bombshell, “ I don’t understand why people like ska” after a little mental arithmetic I concluded that in all probability he was actually my son and proceeded to educate him, some obvious classics including the 12” version of The Specials- Ghost Town, that trombone solo from Rico is just Thatcher Britain distilled. Drifted into London calling then got back to education with some sublime, Manu Chao and probably to finish Erykah Badu.

Found a stray IPA so Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska will round the evening off.

All those sound great. I've had Godspeed you! Black Emperor's Luciferian Towers and now onto Captain Beefheart's Mirror Man.

We've been watching the Unforgotten series recently, and I've just looked for the theme tune

OMG, yes Rammstein, forgot about them...to be fair the only song I knew was Mein Herz brennt https://youtu.be/WXv31OmnKqQ
Weird sh1t, probably best to just enjoy the music there and not to think too much about what one is seeing and hearing there
Re: What are you listening to now?
Ok, tried the not thinking bit but it didn't work. Good news though, have reassured myself that they are not far right after all, so free to enjoy

Re: What are you listening to now?
Well there I am pleasurably listening to Love's "7 and 7 Is" again (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6An7KGK6U3c), whilst perusing This Place - in particular Cheery Friday (it's Friday yep?) and specifically Stu's lovely photo of Ruby and Dee - and two weirdly synchronous things occurred.
Firstly I happen to be drinking a Ruby, or ruby, beer: Mumbles Red Dragon.
Stop Mumbling man! Gower on.. I mean, get on with it!! OK, ok.....
Secondly, Ruby (the dog not the beer) suddenly caused the Bonzo Dog Band to pop into my head. OK, let's play a Bonzo's track after Love. With This Place's reputation for harbouring lots of normal people - no, honestly - it seemed only fit to choose We Are Normal:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZXI9RJSgok. Listening happily - he's got a head on him like a rabbit - and reading the comments at the same time, and I see that SkyLarkingNZ reckons it's a spoof of...... Love's "7 and 7 Is"!!!
Here come some normals!
Sir Viv - my hero. RIP.

Marvellous! I didn't know you moonlighted as their vocalist Stu - or is it Chris Bowes? .Dave Barter wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 10:27 pmSee page 22 of threadBearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 9:22 pm Dee introduced me to Alestorm today ... kinda pirate metal.

Re: What are you listening to now?
Any other connoisseurs remember one of Viv's final creative explosions - the 1995 BBC2 Late Show "Diamond Geezer" autobiographical showcase? For non-fans, note well that Viv was one of John Peel's favourite people ("I fear that a single one of Viv's thoughts would blow my damn brains out"). In my book this gem is one of the finest things Viv ever did. His last stand perhaps. He had so much more to give, even then. A genuine tortured genius. Sigh.

"I'm not different for the sake of being different, only for the desperate sake of being myself......". Indeed. Let's drink [a ruby/Ruby beer] to that.
