Just spotted that  Does someone have to update Trackleaders to show the scratches? Greg? I know he's working today so the Twitter updates might not be as often.

Andrea/Trep has just pinged. Looks like she had breakfast at Inchbae or Contin.

She's been having problems with brake rub. Don't know if it's sorted or not (fingers crossed). She overnighted at Contin, where she was hoping to get some breakfast, and also stopped at Inchbae.
Every opportunity to fuel. Gifthorse day.

Cool. That'll get her to the OBH for another refuelling stop.

Good to see Andrew Hutcheson doing well. I rode with him a bit on the 2014 edition and he finished 2nd ahead of me. As far as I know he hasn't been back since he scratched in 2015 (if I remember correctly with back problems).

There’s a shot on geograph.org from An Teallach looking down on the crossing where you can see a couple of underwater spits of river debris well out into the Loch. That’s the shallowest point. In 2017 I went straight across where the TL trace meets the river and the deepest point was halfway up my shins but mostly it was just over my shoes.

Edit- have to say that there’s a big gap between the leading four and the next group. Without checking (on a phone with a cracked screen 😞) it looks like 8 or 9 hours
Upto the shins... You make the river crossings sound mild on the HT550 as compared to some of the other ITTs  maybe there is hope for me (1 day... God Willing) yet.

It's weather dependent. Jenny Graham spent a whole day at the Fisherfield crossing, waiting for the water levels to drop.

There are also numerous other river crossings that are at least as problematic.

Think that was the year when I saw a photo of someone mid Fisherfield crossing with the water at shoulder height

Looks like it's back on track now. It had a bit of a breakdown earlier if you check his history: reported him up in the hills above the road to Oykel Bridge then next one he was back in the sea near Clachtoll.

Dawn heading home by the looks of things

And Mike Sheldrake off towards the Wee Mad Road of Inverpolly rather than Ledmore.

water at shoulder height
Must have been short of stature or in the wrong spot.

Apparently Mike Sheldrake is currently running SS, and is off to Scourie bike shop to try to fix his derailleur.

If Al scratched , he did it himself.

And yes, I have access to the back end of Trackleaders.

(Though looking at where Scourie is, and the direction Mike's headed, that info doesn't seem quite right. He's definitely SS though)

Trepwatch: She pinged just S of the OBH about half an hour ago, and I just got the following text:
SOUP.

Right back home so a bit of nerdishness

Assuming Liam's riding at about the same pace as Neil Beltchenko did, not unreasonable, then it looks like the current way through Fisherfield is about 2-3hrs longer (for them) than the 2017 route. Neil took 9.5hrs for Inverlael to Kinlochewe, Liam took 12hrs but had a 30min break at Poolewe. Apart from one small variation the route back to Tyndrum is the same. Liam's only 90mins down on Neil's time at his current location.

Looking at where Rich Rothwell is now, Liam was there 11hrs ago, that's a big gap.

Dammit I think I need to get an Instagram account if that's where all the cool kids are hanging out. Also need to log in to Twitter which only gets used for following this race. What other social media do I need? Any HT550 content on tik tok?
