You forgot to qualify that Graham... no mat with a quilt on top. Must've been reading the many discussions on down being squished and not doing job properly. Hope they manage it well (like seriously) and don't regret...

I've gone without a stove on an overnight trip where I know the area but I'm way too soft to do it on a week long trip with iffy supply in the middle of nowhere. I don't think I'd ever go without a mat, my back aches just thinking about it.

I like Emma's honesty... "Clothes OMG I cannot decide,
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

I've not packed a stove because I'll spend longer in bed drinking coffee every morning

No tarps as well on a few of those set ups - Alan is requiring some form of shelter over and above a bivvy bag.....
Stove for me. Stove plus meths plus dried food weighs less than none dried food and I'm fretting about food availability..... Plus If I can't make a brew, I get very unhappy

Wow... Is James Hayden back for some more. Well done him. I notice Karl hasn't shown his 'bicycle' this time either...

My money's on the goat.
Wonder if Josh Ibbet is going to try and wreck another SC tallboy?

I can't believe that anyone would venture out there without a tent or tarp; that's asking for trouble.

Does that mean that's an automatic disqualification as the rules weren't adhered to...

I can understand going minimal with a good forecast and bothies open. But forecast isn't great and bothies are closed. It's a big risk.

Yup
Which is why I'm probably going to take my 3 season bag instead of two season quilt.

I’ve got a Terra Nova Jupiter hooped bivy that has done me alright in horrendous conditions. In fact I prefer it when things are bad as I can get it set up and in it very quickly. With my poor tarp skills not sure I’d get any extra benefit

2019 really was a show of ‘go fast or go home’, with dangerously low levels of kit taken. It’s good that there is the insistence of a prudent set of equipment.

I did 2017 without a stove, but had a meal at the Oykel Bridge (x2), pie shop and Whistlestop cafe. If there’s any question of places being closed then I wouldn’t risk it really, and carry meals and not just snacks.

Phil Clarke is taking his 150 quilt, I have a 250 quilt that my body only likes to use in summer for a couple of months. I wish I didn't feel the cold, still using either a 450 or 350 bag at the minute! That Jones is rather special though.

Just read through them all rather than just looking at the pictures. I can't wait to watch the dots :)

I was looking at people’s ages - there’s some young ones entered (well, younger than me anyway)

To be fair, that's like Ton trying to sound surprised that there's some shorter people than him entered
