First thing that makes me cheery was starting to piece project Death Trap back together for the final time. Each bit that's added is now either coated, painted, polished or rebuilt.

Second thing was a visit from Mike who'd ridden up from the Elan valley. We even discussed going for a ride.

Third thing, I've had fillet steak, pan fried new potatoes and garlic mushrooms for me tea, all lovingly crafted by yours truly.

You've gone all masterchef on us Stu. A step up from the standard-issue bikepacker's chip there  .

I remember now you mentioned that a while ago. Most commendable  .

PS> "We even discussed going for a ride." - ah yes, that there "Armchair Bikepacking". Best sort when you get to a certain age  (a certain age which I am well in advance of, so I suffer from AB quite regularly  )

Just in ASDA doing the shopping, no chocolate biscuit stout  also, whilst in the beer aisle a family where looking at the spirits, having difficulty choosing. Their friend walks up and says 'this is what he should get' pointing to the shelf. The mum replies, 'he's not having a big bottle of absinthe, he's 9 years old, he can have vodka like he usually does :o

Upon getting home, Jane is sorting stuff for a 21 mile sponsored walk tomorrow. I was trying to give her advice on how to put jelly sweets into a ziplock bag, she said she knew how to do it.

I said 'well if you don't want advice from one of the top....' before I could finish she says 'I didn't know Javi was here' harsh I thought.

Seeing as I don't feel like I've slept, I'm going to follow on (or is that through?) and say I'm still quite cheery as I reckon my pipes will finally be finished today. Some of you may remember I posted a picture of them some time ago after I first tacked them together. Anyway, after welding them up and much grinding / sanding / polishing they're starting to look as though they're actually one piece and not ten, which they are :-bd

Wow! How long does that take to do? All the exhausts I've made have either been wrapped on hidden underneath the vehicle, which is lucky as I'd never have the patience (or skill) to do that.

RIP wrote: Fri May 14, 2021 10:55 am Just been down to the river to check that my oak saplings haven't been eaten. They haven't so that's a good start. Sat there in the drizzle for a bit and watched a few of the ten nest boxes that I made and put up a while ago. Over 15 minutes two coal tits went in and out of two boxes. Got babies I reckon so that was cheery. Some coal tits come to our garden feeders so I'd like to think they're 'our' ones. Simple pleasures but felt cheery afterwards. Guess you can make a difference with even small things.

Can't remember who won last year's Sunflower Club Competition. One of mine ended up 14' high with 16 flowers on it!

Anyway this year's are now up and running....

Pretty sure you took the title mate. I'm not "doing"sunflowers this year. I don't have to. Ive given a chunk of garden space over to wild flowers and bugs and hedgehogs. And feeding pigeons. Having thrown a couple of handfuls of seeds into it, there are now many dozens of seedling sprouting entirely of their own volition. I am ignoring them and interested to see what happens.
I'm just going outside ...
