Whats todays Arkose?

Post by FLV »

Asking for a chap at work who wants a gravel bike

Previously, if someone mentioned looking for a good gravel bike (not drop bar MTB) at a good price - The Pinnacle Arkose was universally recommended.
I agreed, even bought one. Its good, even if it is in pieces currently...

But after being asked by a chap at work, I discovered they don't make them anymore it seems.

So what's the go-to currently? (ignoring availability issues)

Evans still make them, but (bites tongue)

Camino would be my choice. Good bike, good price, good company.

Depends if you want a road based gravel bike, or an off-road based gravel bike...?
There are theories at the bottom of my jargon.

I'd say Camino. Good company (not cracked yet Shaf!), and very versatile like an Arkose but with a bit more clearance. Had an Arkose for 7 years and the Camino for a year or so. Both can be adapted to be more road or off road focused and a bargain price when available too.

i would opt for a genesis or a surly in some form or other. wife has a straggler, it is very good. takes a 2'' tyre. fugio is ace looking from genesis.
