Maybe I’m just a little too idealistic 🤷‍♂️
I'm not sure education works?

People who do all of those things are very well aware of what they are doing and do not care about the damage. It's a selfish action born from laziness and the only answers I can see are to prevent the behaviour in the first place via upbringing or incentives to not behave in that way.

We should pay people to take home rubbish and pay for dogshit in bags by the kilo. It would probably cost in

I think the second week of the Easter hols might be busy when we're allowed to stay away from home after April 12th, international travel can resume from May 17th currently so hopefully by the time summer comes round enough folk will have been vaccinated and will want to travel, although some countries aren't doing so well again.

It's sad to see folk disregarding the guidance in lockdown but we can only do what we think is right, I've driven to work and that's it, any exercise is from the front door despite living in a crappy area. I've walked to nicer places for exercise and seen folk loading bike racks on cars ffs. Not much changing from March 29th as it's still stay local instead of at home, just praying things get lifted on April 12th because I've had enough of it now.

Seem to remember that this topic has come up once or twice recently. It really annoys me that opinion is that the solution to stopping these dickheads desecrating the British countryside is to facilitate them going abroad, presumably so they can wreak havoc there instead. Why on earth is this an acceptable point of view?
I suppose the only possible excuse is that generally once these morons have been poured off their charter planes at Alicante or Palma they are corralled into purpose built shithole resorts like Benidorm where their antics can be restricted to beach or bar.
British holidaymakers should be ambassadors for their country, instead they are carbuncle which makes the UK's image a bad one and is only tolerated because of their spending power.
When was the last time you saw a drunken gang of half dressed French, German or Spanish tourists in the UK?

‘96 in a bar in West London, watching England beat France in the five nations. Strictly speaking it was a Francophile bar and they were expats but you did ask.

Out of curiosity where do Spanish, German and French twenty somethings go on holiday? I would have thought the UK would be on the pricy side.

I think they've been trying to push it through for while Stu and now it's come into force, as far as I can make out it's still May 17th for the lift though if all goes to plan.

I read June or July this morning following them making it a criminal offence to travel abroad (without good reason) from this coming Monday.

I think you've more or les answered your own question. Yes, there are the motorhomers and campers too, and I guess that a number of those will be as much a problem over there as over here, but in my experience the number of problem folk is lower.

Oh that's not good, we're quietly hoping for an October Chamonix trip but we'll see. Got a cottage in the Cheviots booked for a week in July for a change of view at least.

Sorry folks that's my fault, I optimistically booked a ferry to France last Friday for 13th June and have clearly jinxed it

The Germans absolutely love a week-long mega session in Mallorca. There's a stretch of about 1km along the beach near Arenal which is a sight to behold when they're in full flow. Absolute scenes

Aside from the twattery, it’s the sheer numbers of people out that is the issue. And I’ll probably be one of them, so I’m part of the problem. My wife and I rode a Jennride route over to Wasdale last year. The valley was truly horrendous with camper vans everywhere, fires, pissed up idiots etc. However you can still find solitude if you stay away from the popular areas. Maybe we’ll stay at home till the mania stops.
The commercialisation of the outdoors doesn’t help. Neither does social media.

I don't frequent cities or even large towns very often but when I do, I'm nearly always amazed / stunned / saddened by the amount of litter and also peoples willingness to ignore it or even add to it. In my mind, it shows a lack of respect for just about everything inc' other people.

With more folk travelling to the countryside, it's no surprise that some of that mentality travels with them. I think many have become so used to doing and seeing it, that it no longer registers. I'd start by cutting the tip of a finger off - nothing too harsh, I'd let people choose which finger and if they still persist, we could progress from there. :-bd

It could be graded - tip of finger for discarded "disposable" BBQ, tip of something a bit lower down for abandoned fires/tents/etc  . Vindictive?

Noticed a huge increase in roadside fly-tipping recently.

We've got that here. Our tip (recycling center) was closed at the start of lockdown and then went to appointments with a 2 week wait. Add in that everyone who was furloughed seemed to be doing up their house and it was bound to happen

You'd struggle doing that with a lot of the people I work with Stu, they haven't got many left
