Depending on where you're going, is a suss fork the best choice for such a long tour? My rockshox are meant to have the lowers serviced every 50 hours and the air spring and damper serviced every 200 hours. These intervals can be stretched a lot but even if you only ride for 4 hours a day over 18 months that's over 2000 hours :o just something to consider.
I've tried riding a rigid fork but my hands are shot from 40 years on the tools, just can't cut it. So the sus fork is a must, may have to take some service bits with me. Looks like you can fit the Surley nice front rack to a fork with hose clamps.....
