Bloody brexit!!

Post by Mactheknife68 »

Now before I start this is not a for and against debate, just that I ordered a Snowpeak titanium item from France that’s not available in the UK only to be sent a refund and message to say not shipping to the UK. Bloody pissed off. 😡

Think we'd probably best get used to this shambles of a sh1tshow.

I know it’s crap. I wanted a Snowpeak short titanium fork or spork for my disabled grandson who has a rare genetic disease only one other discovered in Vienna with the same disorder, no joy. Put a post in the classified page to see if someone in the South of Ireland can help.

The EU were also going to introduce a similar scheme, I suspect the HMRC scheme is just our implementation of that, but have delayed it for six months. That EU scheme was obviously aimed at non EU countries (now including us) the idea being to stop/reduce low value imports avoiding VAT. If we'd remained in the EU we'd be applying it anyway just not to EU member states so those Aliexpress parcels would attract VAT regardless. The EU version allows for the supplier not to pay the VAT on low value goods but that the VAT is paid on entry, i.e. by the consumer. The UK chose not to go that route.

Hence Aliexpress opening up a number of EU warehouses. Not that it helps us any more!

Tempting though it is, you'll only annoy immigration staff (of all nations) who may well need to remove the passport from its cover for checks.

Worth it for a couple of quid. Just check it's not coming from abroad else the import duties might sting!

Changing the passport covers to blue was an annoyingly petty expression of nationalism... but buying a cheap cover off Amazon to make it look burgundy again is trying to play the idiots at their own game if you ask me. Better to rise above it and accept that the colour of your passport doesn't say anything about who you are.

But that's easy for me to say... I got a new passport last year and it's burgundy

These are based in Bristol and Taunton and Exeter and have it in stock. If you need one picking up and posting let me know, I live a short way away from TL in Taunton and would send it on to him if you want me to.
